Absolutely love this mod, however, I noticed while using a heavier upfit like the tanker upfit, the front rear driveshaft of the twinsteer has a tendency to break when reaching the limit of the suspension travel. When going over certain bumps that put a lot of strain on a single axle it can't handle that much weight
Update 0.12: Submarine Mode: On - Added submersible intake snorkels for the cabover, Allowing for water fording. - Increased strength and extension limits on the Front Rear Driveshaft to reduce breakage at the limits of steering and suspension travel. - Fixed some incorrect parts on some configs.
is there a way to run twin steer with fith wheel upfit? possibly twin steer and tri drive with 5th wheel upfit ?
You can run a fifth-wheel on any of the upfit or tridem frames as long as you select the short sloped frame end. The regular tandem and single fifth frames can be used with any twin-steer except for the cab-over day-cab (No room for fuel tanks). Although there is an extended single-drive fifth wheel frame in this mod specifically for single-drive, twin-steer setups (AKA Chinese Six).
Modelling is probably my weakest suit for modding (that's why 90% of this mod is reused models). So Remodeling a whole cab is a hard no from me.
Update V0.15: MOAR FUEL! - Adds a pair of 120L fuel tanks to the intake/exhaust mount of the cab-over - Adds a new 8x8 'Tractor Offroad' Config - Fixed Various bugs and redid some of the configs. --- Post updated --- Update V0.16: Added the extra key-binds "(EFC) Splitter Toggle(Hold)" and "(EFC) Range Toggle(18M)(Hold)" for both the default game splitter and the 18-speed Road-Ranger. This should allow people who have toggle switches for range/split to control them. Note: this update swaps around the range/split controls for the 18-speed so you'll have to change your key-binds accordingly. Edit: Also Re-did the gearing of the super-twelve transmission to have much wider spacing. this makes it more inline with the super-ten and with IRL 12-speeds(Used ratios from Eaton Endurant 12-speed)
How do you manage to not broke the front rear steering? I tried to make it like your mod (until I discovered this) and the twinsteer always broke (I just renamed , readjusted the twinsteer components from front axle)
Well, that was through a lot of trial + error but here are a few things I figured out: 1. The T-series unlike any other beam vehicle uses a slide node setup for mounting many things(Suspension, Tanks, upfits, etc). This work by having 4 "Rails" defined in the front frames Jbeam along part of its length and then have the other Jbeams attach their mounts to said rail with slide nodes. This is what allows them to easily shift components front and back on the frame for all the different variants though they only define them for certain parts of the frame so what I did is extended them with my own frame parts to fit the twinsteer. However, this didn't work great for the suspension mounts(Particularly steering box and rear leaf mount) so there were some parts I added normal mounting beams myself(This is why I needed a second version of the axle for the cabover and why the second axle is a bit jittery under heavy load). 2. Renaming the parts you have to be careful because the front drive axle on the us_semi is called the front-rear axle which caused me many conflicts and glitches to sort out. 3. Some Models were not so happy about being shifted backwards with offsets so I had to copy and re-export them as new models in Blender.
Update V0.17 - Added fenders for the second steer axle on all conventional cabs - Added mudflaps for the second steer that work with all cab variants - Added a Heavy Duty Radiator for using more powerful mod engines - Redid the interiors of all configs to better match them. - fixed 500L tanks on cabover sleeper config. EDIT: V0.17.1 - Fixed Typos in mudflap Jbeams, Fixed Jbeam instability on the Conventional Aero Cab frame.
Very nice mod, I was hoping these types of things were going to be added to the game by default so I'm glad this came along. Is there any chance of getting the third axle on the Tridem to be a steering axle like what was available with the now defunct expansion pack? Also, any chance of getting it as a drop axle?
Not saying I won't make tag axles, but certainly not anytime soon as the implementation would be a pain in the ass. Firstly unlike the the other added axles, tag axles would need almost entirely custom Jbeam to work right. Also getting lift axles would probably require some Lua coding to work.
Update v0.18 - Fixed and re-added shocks to the front drive axle on the tridem drive. This improves the stability of the front drive axle leading to less jittering, less wheel hop, and less likely to break a driveshaft.
