This morning I noticed that the repo counterpart of this mod updated, but there hasn't been anything new. What was that about, anyway? Some bug fix?
Guess I forgot to make an update post for 0.46. Basically the update: - adds the steering wheel from the Wentward bus - adds an optional advanced mode to the Super transmissions - adds a splitter to the EZ-Range - Improves Road Ranger Splitter logic to work better on downshifts.
... But that sort of defeats the purpose of the EZ-Range, no? If you have to use a splitter with the EZ-Range, it's not an EZ-Range anymore. Anyway, I noticed a visual bug(?): when using the 7-speed SingleShift or the EZ-Range, none of the provided shifters work with them: the stick goes to where 6th would be and then just bounces into N and back to 6th from that point on. We need shifters that can work with those gearboxes. (Also, the fact that neither of the automatics have a P gear annoys me. It feels unnatural.)
It functions just the same as the Dual-shift which is plenty easy enough to use on keyboard or controller(unlike the RoadRanger) and is way more satisfying than just straight sequential shift. That I'll have to edit. The shifters were only coded with 5 or 6 speed boxes in mind. It might seem weird coming from a car but no automatic gearboxes of this size have parking prawls. They all rely on the parking brake instead.
Well, can you at the very least rename it to "Dual-Shift-Max" or something and bring the original EZ-Range back as another item? If I understood correctly from my time using it, the whole purpose of the EZ-Range was to give you 18 gears without needing to use a splitter. Seems legit. Even though just relying on the parking brake doesn't seem too safe to me :d
A heavy vehicle parking brake system is WAY more powerful and reliable than a parking prawl. It literally is the reason why heavy vehicles like trucks and buses only move when there's enough air pressure on their brake system. Also, do you think that what holds a trailer still is the landing gear? Nope. It is the brakes, that locks up when there's no air pressure on their brake system (some of them even have a "parking brake valve" that releases ALL the pressure from the brake system. So yes, the parking brake is definitely the safest way to keep a vehicle still, at least when it brakes the wheels directly, either a 18 wheeler, a bendy bus or a compact car. If parking prawls were the best way to secure a vehicle parked, heavy vehicles, as well as manual transmission cars would have it.
It doesn't need it downloaded separately anymore. With MiataLover's permission I've included his mod parts into my mod.
In a similar topic, is Bella's Semi Addon still needed? Last update of that mod added ABS to the T-Series, but something broke and now there's no way to remove it. Not that it's that bad, I just wanted to let you know. Also, I know we talked about this, but I'm still sore about the EZ-Range no longer actually having 18 gears. It'd be neat to have the original back in the form of an "EZ-Single" or similar.
- The mod is not dependent on any other mods to work anymore since ~ 8 updates ago. Bella's mod is setup so his tires will work with the extra axles from my mod but it isn't required. - Not happening. I explained before my disain for that kind of transmission setup and therefore will not bring it back. The current splitter setup is way more satisfying while being plenty easy to use on keyboard or controller.
Too late XD I recently copy-pasted an unranged 18-speed gearbox's JBEAM file from an old 0.30-T-Series-compatible mod and did a minor rewrite to make it work with the 0.31 T-Series. I was planning to tune the gear ratios accordingly to deal with the lack of a splitter as well, but I did quick calculations for every gear and it turns out the ones already set were similar enough, so I left them like that. I think it's close enough to the original unranged EZ-Range gearbox in this mod :d
Great. You've started learning to mod BeamNG. If you want IRL gear ratios to use Eaton is very good about posting their transmission specs online. https://www.eaton.com/us/en-us/catalog/transmissions/rt-18-transmission.html#tab-2 https://www.eaton.com/content/dam/e...transmission-specifications-catalog-en-us.pdf
Eh, no need to say that. I'm not even that good. I am used to doing other minor stuff, though: 1. The V12 T-Series mod from fillman86 (the official published copy) has a minor visual bug: one of the turbos has no mesh. I unpacked it to fix it (turns out he typed one line twice) at first, but I got carried away and eventually added some other stuff. If fillman86 reads this and asks you, tell him I'm sorry for desecrating his mod 2. I also unpacked another mod to give the included bullbars the ability to have different textures (black, paintable, polished) as opposed to just being bare metal. 3. I have a history of modding my own Automation exports to give them extra OP parts: I once make a bosozoku and slapped in a custom rev limiter capable of reaching 510,510RPM (no, that's not a typo) and also put train turbos on an LMP car.
Hey, I've been working on a few things you might want to add to this mod: extra "EZ-Straight" gearboxes, customizable gasoline fuel tanks and a set of auxiliary fuel tanks intended to fill the extra space the Medium Tridem Frame leaves. Unfortunately, the right auxiliary tanks always fall off upon spawn and I can't figure out how to fix that. Mind giving the whole thing a look? (The offending tanks can be found on "us_semi_fueltanks_large_aux".)
Those Straight transmissions I am not adding to my mod. The texture options of the gasoline tanks I'd forgotten about and will add those to the mod for next update.
Oh, okay. I (finally) understand. I however find them more convenient. Nice. ... About the auxiliary tanks I added, any words about them?
Those tanks appear to have some odd interactions between the slide nodes for the fuel tank mounting and the frame rails causing it to self-destruct on some configs. Until that can be fixed so it'll work well on all frame setups I'll leave it out.
Update 0.47 - Added a shifter for the Road Ranger transmissions with animated splitter and range switches.(For both conventional and cabover) - Added 7th gear positions to the animated shifters - Added texture options for the gasoline fuel tanks.
Remember when we talked about putting wide steel tires on the back and you implied it wasn't possible? Well, a week ago I pulled it off. It's rather janky, but it works.
