Another TAZ car is some very pleasant news! I hope it won't be abandoned. Looking forward to progress news! The fact that it's actually lore-friendly and not a boring replica is even better. While referencing the original quirks, let the imagination drive! Please please please make some silly (lore-friendly) accessories for the interior/dashboard such as matryoshkas and stuff --- Post updated --- And yes. Indeed, a sheetbox. But a CUTE one --- Post updated --- Okay, to be reeally honest, the name sounds a bit... odd. To a native speaker at least. Sure thing Bacon didn't take the name out of the void and likely understands its meaning in Russian. But this way, I don't see a company naming a car model with an interjection. Hooray is fun but just inconvenient. Though there is a solution. Remember RyanCookie's TAZ Mir? What's its export name? Zignet. What if do the same with this handsome box? Ura would be its export name, and for the original one... Well, needs some thinking. For the sake of point.
now i did some research and learnt that Baikal is a lake's name and Mir is for peace and world... hmm.
Probably, but nobody in Russia knows that, "ura" is literally just "hooray" in Russian. I kind of agree that there should be a different internal branding, if you want to stick with rivers then "Lena" itself could be a nice choice — it's both a river name and a female name, which sounds like something a late-Soviet car factory could pick.
Kama is an interesting one because technically Oka was produced on the same factory as KAMAZ in the late 90s to early 2000s. Yeah, the truck one. Some nice real-life to lore link there
Nice mod! Wondering if there's going to be export versions? Also, can we make our own mods for this? Of course I will give you credit if I decide to do so!
Never knew that one before searching it up. In 99% of cases it's going to be associated with an interjection. So please don't. I have some suggestions though! Was looking throughrivers that go into Baikal and found two perfect matches: Исто́к (Istók, pronounced as "east-óak") (Wiki): logically best choice of the two - as on Russian the same word means "source" (of the river), so your box is like Baikal's predecessor; Утули́к (Utulík, pronounced as "oo-too-léak") (Wiki): phonetically best choice of the two - the "ik" ending creates a diminutive sounding which matches decently with the car size. Edit: as I discovered later, "Утулик" on Kyrgyz also means "Profit" lol.
I looked through its thread and, as I understand, the discussion started because of the Cherrier brand being inconsistent with its real German counterpart. In this case, we have absolutely no problems regarding that point. Cute Soviet sheetbox. No one argues about that Plus, I feel like Bacon would still handle those types of discussions cold-blooded without getting dramatic, which eliminates the possibility of same happening as with Bubble! Our case is the name just being oddly unpractical, and likely Bacon is open for further suggestions! I hope that's true.
tbh name is staying as is as i want it to closely resemble the irl badging/name (altho oka is a lake)
As a Polish/Lithuanian I am very happy there is another soviet fridge added to the collection! I really like this because SOVIET SMOL CAR
Well, as you wish. I had fun time researching those rivers anyway --- Post updated --- And Oka is indeed a river (Wiki)
You've gone into the question quite deeply, good job. I was also thinking about what the Russian lore-friendly cars in Beamng would be called. I was thinking about some modern version of the modern Lada. The easiest thing to do is an analogue of the Iskra. It's good that we have the fcv platform. Although, we can make things easier for yourself and use Steve's Miovi mod as a basis.
