    Now on repo!!!
    https://www.beamng.com/resources/thailand-license-plate-pack-remastered.22038/

    *******************************************************

    Hello peoples!
Mickey Teerawath there. (or "2008 SsangYong Stavic SV270" in BeamNG's Discord) And welcome to my very first tread... I mean, my first remastered of my favorite mod ever in BeamNG...

The Thailand Licence Plate Pack... REMASTERED!

    headerpic.png

This very old Licence Plate mod was originally made by MashedPotatonator back in 2017 and it don't receive any updates since then. A few weeks ago, I rediscovered it again and realized that's wasn't realistic enough. So, I decided to remasters this to practicing my modding skills in BeamNG (And yes, this was just the beginning)

    1.png 2.png 3.png 4.png 5.png 6.png 7.png screenshot_2022-03-13_16-00-19.png screenshot_2022-03-14_21-47-05.png

    What's changed in the remaster?
    - A completely new look: The original version doesn't look good compares to the real one and a limitation of the customizable characters (the letter 'กข' are the fixed preset character), but that's issue is now gone. Featuring a realistic font and more modern layout to matches the new era of BeamNG.drive
    - A new variations (and rename the current one): This remaster introduces a new Temporary or

Trade Licence Plates (Red Background / Black Text) for your new car (and more to come later) ... But also renamed some current variations that make peoples confused too.
    - A provincial plates: Not every BeamNG players in Thailand are lives in Bangkok. But in this remaster adds a solution for everyone who lives in other Cities/Provinces. As of writing right now there are 2 of them available at the moment, Chiang Mai (เชียงใหม่) and Samut Prakan (สมุทรปราการ)

But what's about the issues then?
    - As of right now, Thai Characters are not implemented in BeamNG.drive's Licence Plates System (it only support ASCII characters.) The solution for this issue is to replaces all of the English Characters with Thai Characters. Not only that, the Thai Characters are have 44 letters compares to English Alphabetical Characters which only has 26 letters. But that's not a big deal because the license plate texture has 2 sets of English Alphabetical Characters for both for uppercases and lowercases (As I remembered, also Thai script is caseless so yeah...), so I can add other stuffs too like the letter 'T', 'Q' or 'C' on testing vehicles (more on that later).
    - The Vanity Plates, this type of Licence Plate is available for auction only, it features cool special background image and a very nice number formatting like 1234 or 5544 depending on what they have. This needs more implementations and improvements which isn't enough for my knowledges.
    - And the last one is a sub-menu to change your preferred Cities or Provinces. The reason was, in Thailand they have 77 Provinces! That's why I only include Chiang Mai and Samut Prakan for the main separated options (and it's available for Passenger Cars only), plus I need to figures out how the formatting scheme works (Currently, they are " ---1234" for Cars. Trucks and Buses formatting one are fine).

    Plans/To-do lists (Need helps):
    - Old Licence Plate style (1967 and 1975 version The 1975 plate is now completed)
    - Some refinement and adjusting..

About the formatting schemes.. (For Cars)
    1กข 1234 =
    This is the current one.
กข 1234 (It can be กข 123 or whatever) = The one you're familiar with.
    1ก-0123 = This was used in 1975-1997.
    (ก.ท.) 01234 or (ก.ท.) ก-0123 = This is the oldest one used in 1967-1975.
TC 1234 or QC 1234 = Those are the one used by car companies for testing the car to make sure that everything is ready for the production.
(For the instructions on how to types it are coming soon after platefont for all styles is completed.) UPDATE: Now available in the attached PDF. (Learning it before release / That might changes later during development)

Alright, the platefont is now 100% completed! (For the standard look, Trade Plates and others are WIP at the moment)
But there's a catch, the actual number of a usable Thai characters is now 39 letters! Which means more things to come sooner...

But I'm gonna pause it for today, because right now is 21:50 (9:50 PM for 12hr peoples) ... see you tomorrow!

More refreshed plates coming, and that is the Bus and truck plates!
Unlike Passenger Car variant (including Pickup, Van and Taxi), these platefonts are shared between Passenger Car's Temporary plates and the older 1975 version I show you earlier. Which is good because this saves more time to make, and I can put them on a 70s version easily. Also, when you look at the bottom-left corner of the plates. I replaced "หา" with the "ขส" for more realistic feellings... (This might change later if this was against for something)
    screenshot_2022-03-13_14-24-11.png screenshot_2022-03-13_14-25-23.png screenshot_2022-03-13_14-40-30.png screenshot_2022-03-13_14-39-39.png

The only plates I have left is the Tuk-Tuk plates (or Subaru Taxi plates as the original was called) and a 70s version if needed.

Update: The 70s Version is finally here!
    screenshot_2022-03-13_16-00-19.png screenshot_2022-03-13_16-00-04.png

But there's a problem, some characters (like 'ญ', 'ณ' or 'ฌ') are have more width compared to the regular script one (or even the typical English Alphabetical Characters itself). As the results these letters are look like this...
    BeamNGdrivex64_8M0AnOOYKb.png
I'm not sure why, but that's it.

    Okay, so...
I might rethink about the platefont again. As of right now, both version of the platefont are have the same issues to investigate and need more refinements. So, if you want to help me work on the platefont please let me know...

I'm just chilling right now, but don't worry peoples. I'll do some adjustment tomorrow (this includes a 70's and modern platefont fix, Bus and truck plate layout for vans, and anything that I can't describe it... but anyways)

    upload_2022-3-19_19-39-14.png
First of all, I've adjusting all characters that have issue on both versions of the platefont.json file. Then I testing them to make sure it work perfectly... (And the 70's version need to be documenting soon.)

I've updated the PDF instruction for the modern plate just recently (As it has some error during documentation progress last week). And I also added instruction for the 1975 plates too.

They're on the first post if you want to learn more.
