Ya I need help. My gpu is 6 years old even though I bought it 5 months ago. It is a 6670 with 2gb ddr3 ram. My cpu is and amd phenom ii x4 830. I get about 25 fps on low settings and it looks bad. What do you think is the best gpu for my phenom 830? My gpu budget is $150. It can be nvidia or amd. I do not want to get another phenom because they are out of production and I do not plan to get another motherboard. Also my computer has a locked bios. So I can't overclock the cpu. I need actual help not look at the system requirements or other people posts their PC specs.

You may also want to look into the R7 265's when they become widely available. They're a rebrand of the HD 7850 at a severely discounted price, right around your budget limit, assuming USD.

Yes, your CPU will definitely bottleneck in BeamNG, and may actually be the problem as is. But might as well get a GFX card that your CPU bottlenecks now and then not have to worry about buying a new GPU next time you upgrade your CPU. that s what sucks about building a well balanced system: you always have to upgrade everything at the same time.

K my mobo is am3 not am3+. And the phenom a are discontinued. I might consider r7 260. What about the cpu? (Actualy my computer is a prebuilt factory asus essentio. But I plan to get a new case and put my stuff in there in case I need to upgrade the mobo.)

I think it would pair with your CPU well. My system has a good balance. The 7770 is probably considered mid range at this point.

I'm in the same boat as you with the CPU. My mainboard isn't compatible with AM3+ socket CPUs, so when I buy a new CPU, I'll be buying a new mainboard with it.

The 7770 is considered bare-bones gaming. It will drive BNG at 1080p maxed out at ~30 fps, mediums will get you about 50 and mediums/lows without any post FX or AA/AF is somewhere about 75. (My frame limit.) I recommend a used 650ti boost if you can find one or a used 7870/270x/270/760 if you don't mind used. Maybe a 265 new.

My cpu bottlenecks with beamng apparently. I can't get ANY phenom cause they are out of stock/out of production. What now?

Bare bones gaming ? Your numbers are off. I'm not trying to argue with you, but I have a 7770, so I can tell you exactly how it is paired with a AMD 965 CPU. 1080p maxed out with 4x AA and 16x AF with only SSAO off, I get 50 - 60 FPS on a terrain with moderate vegetation. I use VSYNC, so it could be more than 60 and I wouldn't know. I also force triple buffering, so when it can't do 60 FPS, it doesn't just revert to half the refresh rate ( 30 FPS ). It can do frame rates between 30 and 60.

At medium settings with SSAO off, it would perform even better. Where did you get those numbers from anyway ? Did you have a 7770 at one time ?

Umm so which is the best combo... Phenom 955 with 7770, Phenom 965 with r7 260x, I don't know...a lot of people are saying get a new cpu but all of the am3 CPUs are used (which I don't like) and they are out of production.

Yep. My card was running at 1200 too. Odd.

The 260x is a rebranded HD 7790. So yes, get the 965 and 260x, it's a better CPU and GPU.

again, in your budget, the HD 7790/R7 260X or the HD 7850/R7 265.
