DuneWulff submitted a new resource: The Rotting Grounds - This map is nothing but garbage. Read more about this resource...
I love it. This map is atmospheric, detailed, and unique. There's something interesting no matter where you are on the map. The terrain showcasing a jumble of random items from habitations to scrap piles to ramps, and this works well in your setting of a junkyard. Despite the variation of objects, everything seems to fit in. The map is very uniform in appearance. Perhaps more uniform than most people would expect. This does not detract from the map however. All in all, you've combined your usual competence and imagination yet again to make a masterpiece. If you're not already, you have a future as a professional level designer. I'd love to see more content in the future.
Maybe there is some issue with your computer and load which this map creates makes that issue to manifest itself? One thing about this map, streetlamps do eat rotor blades This boat is somehow very pleasing to my eye, I'm not sure about yellow tape, it looks bit odd, but also one kinda wants to follow it:
Do any errors appear on the console when you load the game? Thanks I don't know if I want to do it as a job though, because then it'd start to feel like a chore instead of something to do just for fun. The yellow tape (which seems to still be flickering, despite my repeated attempts at fixing z-fighting) is meant to be wires scattered across the ground. There weren't any textures that really worked well as wires, so I rolled with the best thing I could find. Thanks
I would guess that something like this, but with adjusted colors and maybe bit longer looping version might work for wires on ground? They try to sell those, but I guess making wires in Blender and rendering to texture might work, lots of work though: https://www.filterforge.com/filters/11234.html It might need normal map for extra depth though, but I'm sure you know stuff better than I do, maybe pictures in links help with ideas though!
I'm enjoying this map, but there are two things I'd like to call to your attention: 1. There seems to be a vestigial scenario left over in the file. I don't have Conquistador Gorge, and entering this scenario spawns the Sunburst high in the air outside of the map, where it promptly flattens itself in the scenery. The other thing is that long items protruding from trash heaps are often entirely horizontal instead of leaning at odd angles. It just doesn't fit the haphazard nature of a junkyard in my opinion. Other than that, it's a great map with a very original concept, and I'm quite happy that you've decided to share it with us!
Woops. Was going to add scenarios, but ended up not. Guess I missed that. As for the trash stuff, that's just a side-effect of forest items. Beam doesn't have the option to have forest objects spawn at angles, they can only rotate along one axis.

I do agree with what Wreck discussed. Also upon entering the map and tinkering around for barely under a minute I did get forced out the game and it closed. The error received was Error 0x00000001. Similar to Wreck I also have some pretty strong pc specs so that wouldn't have been an issue. I will be trying to tinker with my mod list, cache, settings, etc. to see if it's on my end.
How powerful PC is has usually nothing to do with that stuff, more stress or stress in right way can flush out some issues that has not been known, PSU, RAM, MB area for example, but it could be AV or SSD/HDD related too. I used to get random shutoffs like plug being pulled from the wall, which happened usually after loading PC heavily and returning to idle, only few times PC shut off on load, BIOS update seems to have cured that as none of such has happened after BIOS update.
Thats quite true although this would be the only map the first map ever for me that just flat out ends the game right off the bat. And tbf there are quite a lot of really good maps that can be stress testers to computers. I understand if you're playing for awhile and you happen to get a crash from some random error or just a build up of computer resources but I simply drive around for less than a minute about every time and I have to reboot the game. I also hadn't had any hardware errors except for some drivers atm for audio and others games don't have the same reaction as this map.
Maybe crash is due the audio? What you have set your audio sources? Does changing that to something different change frequency of crashing?
I believe I had gotten my audio drivers fixed by looking up my mobo and reinstalling some Realtek drivers. The audio issues I was receiving only pertained to plugging in new devices as the manager would not open nor recognize the mic/headphones I had plugged in. This was more or less an error that really only affected the Discord program as friends could not hear me. Atm I have been using the default Nividia drivers for display and audio when running BeamNG.Drive and don't seem to have any issues on the audio side of the spectrum. But thank you for being so investigative and friendly. Gotta love this community.
I remember DuneWulff posting something about playing many simultaneous sounds and having BeamNG crash because of that, I have no idea if this map is affected as that I believe was related to map his working on, but it was just a thought coming from that, maybe there is something, maybe there is not, easy to check at least Hey, when everyone does their best to help each other enjoy the game best, we will have best game in the world
Do you have a crash log you can post here? We can narrow down the issue. This map shouldn't be effected by it - there's only one main track and a few select 3D-sounds. My current map had a menagerie of nightly, jungle tracks that were overloading the audio of my computer. I compiled the tracks into one audio track in Audacity and that fixed that.
Honestly, this is a very interesting concept/map. I like it though, it's really great for taking pictures of old cars that look like they have been sitting.
