This was both a proof of concept just to see the capabilities of where AI currently is, as well as a desire to have this particular model of Celica as a drivable car in BeamNG without waiting on someone who has extensive modeling and BeamNG modding experience with hours of free time to make this very specific vehicle for free. If people are so upset about this being AI generated, I can just delete this post and keep the model all to myself without sharing it with the community and other 1st gen Celica fans.
i really do not endorse AI generated car mods but i'd keep the post up it is certainly.. interesting.. to put it in kind words, while also scary at the same time
if someone is upset, they really have no reason to be its a cool idea for an experiment, and while I hope AI-generated cars don't become the norm, this was cool to see
Of course mate, I got your point. People just jump to conclusions way too quickly nowadays. Keep the post up, this is something quite unique and could be used as a test bed to further improve it and see how far AI can go.
The model and materials look awful. I imagine the topo and jbeam are as well. AI slop has been taking over the forums and repo lately and it needs to stop.
I would say that in my opinion this car doesn't look the best, although it's scary how quickly AI has been able to do things that we may never have fathomed it of doing. I personally am on the side of AI created cars aren't good, because they are super difficult to debug and improve on by a human, and it just feels cheap for someone to spend months or years on a mod or something, just for AI to do the same thing, even if at a lesser quality, in an hour max.
https://imgur.com/a/DOi0QUH looks fine if you ajust the paint material ive seen payed mods worse than this tbh
this feels like an insult to the modders that have spent countless hours working tirelessly on their car mods by hand
While I do think that this is impressive despite my intense hatred of AI and anything that plays into it, I've loaded it up and it isn't horrible, though I doubt this should really be involved in the modeling process. I checked it against a Bring a Trailer listing of the same car and there are multiple instances of it getting something wrong or hallucinating, like on the passenger air vents. The fact that the AI came that close with the modeling is still pretty interesting and unnerving though. Overall I think this could serve as a basis of something much greater (first gen Celica pack?) but a lot of time and human hands would have to be involved to get it just right.
Personally, I find the question of whether or not to use AI in creative endeavors—such as modding or game development—to be a complex issue. While I wouldn't call this "the best" example, I don't think it should simply be rejected; rather, it serves as a highly intriguing mod that—for better or worse—perfectly embodies both the advancements and the unsettling potential of AI technology. (Also, for a mod like this, it might be appropriate to change its status from "Released" to "Experimental.")
[Edited post] I do respect you being honest about the AI thing, nothing against you as a person either since you're not trying to pass this off as a genuine human-made creation, however I'll still consider it slop due to being entirely made with AI. --- Post updated --- I feel like people would have their doubts. Forums user's are already figuring out how to spot AI mods, and some features like the front end and grille for example, look off. I feel like it could still be spotted. Personally, I don't mind if AI is used to help, but mods still need to be mostly (preferably entirely) made by humans. Good mods like the CCF, Crown Victoria, Mistral, Vertex, etc. Were all made by humans and have many amazing features. I haven't looked at this in game yet, but I will see this mod for myself next time I'm in game. --- Post updated --- Honestly this sums up my overall thoughts on this thing, again they might change once I look at it in game. Also, I have nothing against the creator, but I really don't the AI mod problem to get worse.
