Track builder feature is a broken mess and devs don't care

    "I was messing around in the Track Builder today, and I realized that the Track Builder doesn't allow textures to be changed anymore."

    This was posted 5 years ago and was never fixed, we cant change texture or decals on track builder, also the track shape menu doesn't open, when we accidentally click to close the test track window it can never be opened again, and so on and on. the track builder feature is beyond broken, nothing works as intended, it so frustating having a awsome tool there and can't be used bc the developers don't care to fix what used to work, and in more than 7 years has the same issues that are always said "it's gonna be fixed next patch", but then 7, 6 , 5 years later people still complaining about the same issues

    I'm tired of installing the game every year or so to use the track builder after each massive update or so, and see that the track builder still has the same problems and every time I look if someone has the same problem I alwys find that every year people complain that feature don't work and nothing is made. yes I would be polite when posting this but at this point this is getting ridiculus. I posted this issue 1 year ago on steam, on redit, but nobody seems to care.i'm not here asking this to this to be fixed for me, but for everyone that thoughout the years have beem complaining and nevem been given a fix for those issues.

    I see people complainng here for the same exact issues from 5years ago, 1year ago, that the track editor doesn't work, and there is always or: nobody replies, or a dev "says that's gonna be fixed next patch, thanks for pointing out the problem", or someone else that comes and say "yeah, actually nobody uses the track builder, that's your problem so eat grass idiot"

    I challange the devs to use the track builder and do those tasks.
    -install the game on a computer that are not the one you use to work on the game. (install it on a notebook, you home computer , the average gamer computer,)

    -open track builder, and try to change from the light runner to grid.

    - open the small grid map and press "ctrl alt t" to open the track builder (spoiler it doesn't work)

    -create a small oval track (it works)

    -now go to material editor, and try to change the texture of MATERIAL A base (spoiler it doesn't work)

    -now change the material of the decal (it works, but not really it only changed to the first decal on the list instead of the one you chose)

    -now change the material of the decal again (spoiler it doesn't work)

    -now close all windows and with track builder still on, try clicking on track shape to open the track shape window (it doesn't work)

    -now re open the small grid map and try to open the track builder again (spoiler it doesn't work uless you close and open the game again, but even there track shape won't open never agin)

    -now that you closed and opened the game again, re open smallgrid and reopen track builder, you notice that the game gives you a basic track builder tools, a simple track builder toolbar. close that window and try to reopen that same window (it doesn't give you the option, once its closed it's a lost window)

    -also if you still have the base track builder window, clicking on track sape will make it disapear, never to be seen again.

    so , after all of this.... I think track builder needs to be review and fixed, don't you think?

    --changing the texture of the decal again doens't work bc for some reason it always change for the first texture on the list.
    --same goes for the base texture, it might not change texture of the base bc it only change to the first texture on the list

    I would edit this on the post itself but the system says I can't edit "bc of being noticed as spam".

    Track builder is one of the few ways of easily creating your own content for BeamNG and the fact its awful really lets down the game.
    People tell me Beam is a driving simulator and yes it is but it could be so much more.
    Currently the only true way to make content is by Blender or 3DS Max which places the bar pretty damn high. Yes there are tutorials out there, yes Blender is free but its a leap many will struggle to make.

    Fixing the bugs aside, some basic addictions would massively improve the functionality:

    - Being able to add and remove parts anywhere in the track, not just at the end. Currently, If you make a mistake at the start you have to delete EVERYTHING to fix it!)
    - Being able to specify an arc length and have the game build it out of the correct pieces. Building a 44 degree corner from one 30 degree piece and nine 1 degree pieces is seriously irritating.
    - Allowing pieces to be designated as Start/Finish points, Advertising Points, Grandstand points. Like the barriers the ability to have the game automatically add an overhead gantry or advertising banners over the track to add flavour to the circuits.
    - Smooth gradients between points rather than each joint being flat. This could be a separate elevation map/graph that can be dragged around to change the elevation profile.
    - A basic autofill for the landscape so the interior and exterior of the track isn't just... a grid.
