Hi Admin, I would to be one of the translator in Thai language. I am Thai and currently living in Thailand and also speak English. Please reply me. Highly Appreciated!
Hi dear developers Please take this message seriously and read it to the end. This is my job for several days. I'll start with the fact that I have a mod that translates applications in BeamNG Drive from English into Russian And recently I found a way to implement the translation of applications in the game, just as the whole translation works in BeamNG When I have English, applications are in English When there is Russian, then applications are in Russian Etc It is very easy to do! And this will take the game to a new level. Here's how I did it with an example traffic application First of all, I created a copy of the EN-US.json file and added the following lines to it: Then, in the HTML file of the traffic application, I replaced this line: To this line: Then, in the RU.json file, I added the same lines, but with a translation into Russian: And it's all, now the text in the application will change depending on the language in the game All you need to do is add the lines to the EN-US.json file and replace these lines in the HTML and JS application files and that's it It took me 15 minutes for one application This is what the lines in the JS application files look like, for example, the airspeed application: This method requires minor changes to the screens and JS files, but the result is worth it. Still need to translate the beginning of the game where it is warned about epilepsy: Honestly, it’s very stupid to make this warning only in English. Imagine : if I didn’t not know English and I had epilepsy, I’d not understand your message It took me 5 minutes Such a translation has almost no disadvantages and has a huge number of advantages Translators from other countries will only need to translate the lines from the EN-US.json file The game will become international, people who were afraid to play it due to the lack of the knowledge of a language can easily start playing BeamNG Drive I can officially declare that the Russian BeamNG Drive community likes this idea I hope our work does not remain ignored To make the game better, you need to add only 2 lines to the code Thank
We're looking into revamping this process. It's too early to share any news but I assure that we're not planning on abandoning this
Alright, thank you for your response, please keep us updated. I don't think anybody expects for developer team to drop everything else and start improving translation system. But it would've been great to see at least some reaction to comprehensive posts like the last by fylhtq7779. Something like "we are keeping track of this thread and your suggestions, and we are planning to sort them out, but later" (your reply actually). But we were like "do developers even read this??".
I have a question for the forum moderators. Since groups were disabled (or something like that, I don't really know what happened to them), the link to the translation group from the wiki (eg. Russian translation group) leads to nowhere and users who follow it cannot actually discuss the translation. I haven't found any dedicated local/national forum sections either (I'm sure they existed before), where I can start a new discussion thread. So here is the question: what is the recommended place where I can create a new thread, where translators would discuss the translation using their native language (since we cannot do this anywhere because of forum rules)? I mean each language would have it's own thread, if there is a need for such.
Sorry for that, the thread seems to easily get away from our attention. I pinged the relevant people in regards of your question so that they can reply. Some news on this: We are in the process of adding the translation support to all the elements of the UI that does not have that (either because they predate the translation system, or was simply not added). Should take some time, and will probably be done progressively. It is possible that some things will still be missing/postponed, especially if those are non-final elements.
(sorry for bumping) I might be able to translate most of the game to swedish since iit's my native language
A question for the dev team: what does the line "we’ve polished official localization for the languages listed below" from the last update changelog actually mean? What is this "official localization" and how does it relate to the community translation project?
Hi, Just want to give a quick update on our plans before the holidays get in our way. Apologies for leaving you hanging for so long! Official localization relates only to the languages mentioned in the list. We fully intend on continuing development and support in those languages officially, on our side. For now, this only includes game UI, and this process is completely separate from the community translations. That said, the community translation project will be re-launched in its new form starting next year. We will no longer use Wiki or the forums for day-to-day communications, documentation, and application processing. Comms will be managed through the official Discord server, and access to the channel will be restricted through roles. Everyone is welcome to apply for the role and we will include a proper form to manage these applications. Documentation about the process, members, and tools will be transferred to the new documentation system, which is also due to release in the coming year. Members of the project are welcome to submit their translations in any of the languages they speak (using the same tools as before), senior members will be able to approve those suggestions and include them in the game. For official translations, everyone is welcome to offer suggestions, feedback, and report issues with the translations we provide, these will be processed by BeamNG staff and changes will be made accordingly when necessary. If you have any more questions - I'm happy to answer, but this is the condensed version of the upcoming changes
So, what the aim of community translation then (for "officially" languages)? Right now I have TOO MANY issues with that OFFICIAL translation. How can I report for SO many mistakes of it?
To provide feedback and report issues. For now - please DM them to me. After the holidays - through the Discord channel I mentioned above.
First of all, thank you for the update, though its message is quite unexpected. I've been a contributor for the Russian community translation since 2016 and I've spent a considerable amount of my free time into its improvement and maintenance, so a lot of questions popped up in my head while I was reading the update. There are also other avid translation contributors, and I know, they share the same concerns. So, here they are: What is the reasoning behind introduction of the official translation? I mean, in light of the fact that there is already community translation project up and running? Who does the "official" translation? Has it been based on the existing community translations or made from scratch? Does it mean, that the translations made by the community for the listed languages are not needed anymore? Or they are intended to co-exist with the official localization? How do one apply for any role at the soon-to-be-relaunched community translation project (if there any point in continuing the community translation left)? We'd really appreciate it if you could clarify these points for us. There are also other things to discuss, but I think it's better to leave them for later.
