If you are a first time BeamNG-er then you will need to make a mods folder to install mods. You put the folder "EXTRACT TO MODS" into "C:\Users\<PC Name>\Documents\BeamNG.drive\mods" then, go fetch the program "7-Zip". Once you have installed 7-Zip go back over to your mods folder, then right click on "EXTRACT TO MODS". If 7-Zip was installed right, there should be a new right-click menu button called "7-Zip". Go to it and click "Extract Files...". You will have a box that says "C:\Users\<PC Name>\Documents\BeamNG.drive\mods\EXTRACT TO MODS\". DO NOT PRESS OK YET. Change the box to say "C:\Users\<PC Name>\Documents\BeamNG.drive\mods\". Click OK, and if you did it right, a new folder directory will be there called "vehicles". Click on vehicles, then there will be a folder called "common" in it, click common. Then there will be all the license plates packs you downloaded. The United States plates should be in a state name in the common folder. A different country or pack will be in a folder named for example "~CANADA" or "~GRAND THEFT AUTO". Go find the plate you want and open the folder. There should be 2 files in every last plate folder named "licenseplate_d.dds" and "licenseplate_s.dds". Copy the 2 files to "C:\Users\<PC Name>\Documents\BeamNG.drive\mods\vehicles\common\". Now open up BeamNG.drive and the default vehicle, the Gavril D-Series, should have the plates on it, along with every other default developer car in the game. So if you have say, a DSC Bora, it will not have the plates. If you pull out a Hirochi Sunburst that is not race or rally, it will have the plates. You can however get the race or rally version, go into the parts menu, and find "Front Bumper" or "Rear Bumper". Remove all special bumpers, so change the bumper to "Rear Bumper" or "Front Bumper" You sadly cannot have plates on "Race Bumper". Have fun with your plates! AMAZING DISCOVERY! The D15/D25/D35 mod and the Gavril H-Series Van mods work with license plates.
It works fine. If you are having a specific issue that is not just the game not starting, do tell. Before you do try to find out, is your primary plate located in mods/vehicles/common? Deleted the game cache?
Okay, so my dds files are in the common folder and i've tried deleting the cache, it doesn't work still
These only work on stock vehicles by the way. Also, it must be a graphical error or game corruption, cause it works for me just fine
The newest update broke the whole license plates thing, because a large chunk of the data was spread around and moved to optimize the game a bit better and fix bugs. I will attempt to find out how to rework it soon.
It didn't break the "thing", you just have to either pack the files inside a zip (recommended) or place the files inside mods/unpacked/[folder name].zip (folder, not an actual zip-file)/vehicles.
