The tow truck addon is practically the half life 3 of beamng updates. Still keeping my fingers crossed.
I've been thinking about the tow truck lately, and I think I know a way to make the wheel lift work without ropables: Basically, what I'd like to see is a system that relies on two limp, non-colliding beams (green) attached to the outer corners of the wheel lift (the red nodes), joined by a connector node (blue). When the connector is engaged, in a method similar to the trailer, the beams connect to the node at the center of the wheel, and then retract with a slight amount of force, similar to the nodegrabber on low settings. The beams are variable in length enough (read: stretchy) to accept various wheel sizes, but retract with enough strength to keep them firmly planted in the wheel lift without blowing out the tires.
That is actually genius. I hope that the phase 2 update of the D-Series includes a 4 door unibody on frame and a pre-facelift version, both would add a lot to the vehicle lineup.
There was a mesh for a D-Series tow truck but that will not be introduced until we get ropables. I wouldn't mind a T-Series wrecker though.
Thank you for the informative post. By the way, what do you think of this upcoming modern vehicle for BeamNG.Drive? Also, congrats on 2,000 messages
Lol, didn't even notice the 2k messages... That's scary. I've been hoping for a modern hot hatch for awhile now. I've always had a soft spot for a lime green Focus RS. I grew up with games like NFS Underground, so I will always hope to see lots of customization options for anything we get. I really hope to see a race car like the one I posted two or three pages ago and a crazy hill climb car. We should be getting a new rally car too. Hillclimb car hotlapping and night rallying on JRI are my two favorite things to do in Beam. Plus I'm thinking this car is from a new country judging by the grille and badge, which is something I've been wanting to see for years. The only thing I'm disapointed about is the fact that it'll probably only be an i4. We have a lot of i4's while missing a lot of other types of blocks (F6, i5, i8, V10, V12, rotary/wankel, etc...). Audi does have an i5 5 door hatch, so I'm still holding onto some hope for a new block type.
but maybe it could have a VR6-like engine. this is the update speculation thread after all, so maybe one of those engines is one of the options available.
I’m hoping phase two finally includes 8 lug wheels for the D25, along with more bed options. Dump bed, rollback, utility bed, etc.
The more I think about it the more I feel like an i5 is a possibility. A VR5/6 is a possibility too, though I think less likely since they are a more obscure block and getting sounds for one might be difficult.
A quick thing to note I cannot find the tow truck in the files anymore it used to be in the main pickup model
This has been brought up a few pages back. It was not cancelled yet, just removed until needed. Quote from Diamondback, “We improved our release process and figured we might as well remove this leaked mesh as it serves no purpose for our users. It's not been scrapped yet, but since we don't have any support for rope like things we can't use it.”
A little while ago when diamondback was showing off the early AWD upgrades, one of the clips was just graphs with no in game visuals, but it had i5 sounds, so there's a possibility this thing will get an I5.
To me it looks too new to have anything other than four 499.5cc cylinders and a turbo, but the AWD development using a testbed with I5 sounds is an interesting point. At the time, though, didn't Diamondback or someone say something about crazy testbeds with no real connection to planned future content?
