I think we can all agree that it isn’t cancelled. Nadeox was just joking around. I don’t think it needs to be discussed anymore.
Nadeox purposely trolled us into arguing over the legitimacy of the cancellation instead of bugging the team for more teasers. They knew this would happen because it was all a elaborate plan. Nice.
I'd imagine it is most likely currently being worked on, as it's the oldest "major" map that hasn't been reworked. here's some speculation for you: what if, amidst all the map upgrading, they've decided to go through dry rock island and rework it as well, as another separate map? EDIT: and for more speculation I noticed that the eSBR got an option for a welded rear diff at some point. could this be pointing at a drift spec esbr? after all, the standard rear engine layout isn't good for drifting weight distribution-wise, but the batteries make it basically 50/50, and there have been a few IRL electric drift cars made in recent years, so it's possible. the existence of the solid-state battery pack baffles me as well, as looking in the jbeam tells me it's literally just more range capacity (100kwh intead of 40), but the technology hasn't even proven IRL yet.
I'd be willing to bet that JRI, Port, and Industrial are all going to be updated at the same time, given the number of shared assets among those three maps.
I somehow got a weird feeling about Port, it has always been a small little ''bad'' map. It sits on top of Industrial without having anything on 95% of the map and only has the little port. I would think they would remove it or just rebuild a entire new port map instead of updating the current one. We also got a small port area in Italy so I feel like the Port map is kind of weirdly usesless in a way.
it's great for drifting around, albeit a little confusing, and it's much bigger than italy's port. there's also less variety, so adding some of the obstacles/routes from italy's port, along with a texture refresh, it wouldn't need too much to stay relevant. it's not a map for freeroam driving, just a map to practice drifting and transitions really.
I hope they just get rid of the massive background of trees or expand/change it. I gotta try drifting it I guess, driving just the basic cars, only the covet feels like Port was made for it. All the jumps land perfectly with it Still weird with all the useless trees in the back and mixing of foliage as well as things that don't make sense. Must have been a testing map for more than just crashes.
If you're talking about what I think you are, those are old parts of Industrial Site. The foliage and terrain isn't changed, and there are still tiles of concrete/asphalt they missed when deleting the race tracks.
Ah that clears most of it up! There's for example random bits of tree/foliage in the air, hanging onto nothing. Wonder why they deleted instead of just keeping it there?
