I think the system may work since it will still be based on the old one but i don't think AWD systems or custom transmission will work, btw my pack has only more than 100 parts that are at risk and possibly half of the 500+ Configs
Can someone explain to me how this would even occur? Do you have to stall it(if they only add starting/stalling and not turning off) and then roll it down a hill in reverse? I wasn't even aware that most types of engines would be ABLE to run backwards other than maybe a 2-stroke. Regardless it seems fun to be able to take any car and essentially swap the forward and reverse gears, finally the Covet and modern Pessima shall run with the Porches as a rear engine rear wheel drive sports car with steering rear wheels(lets just not mention that the covets front wheels wont be steering), and not only that the covet will have super aggressive rearwheel steering and extreme tendencies to oversteer to further prove how sporty it is... I may have gone on a bit of a rant
Ah yes, I don't mean run backwards as in have torque in that direction. But just if you stall on a steep hill and roll backwards, or shift into reverse while moving forward, it has the ability to pull the engine the wrong way instead of stopping at 0 rpm and dragging the wheels, clutch etc
thats why i am waiting on the update to update my personal mods because i actually want on demand AWD and torque convertors
Ah, that makes much more sense then, to be honest I wasn't even aware that it wasn't already implemented(I assume due to mainly using clutch assist when not using a wheel. Anyways thanks for the quick response it cleared up much of my confusion
What's up with the people saying that every mod will be doomed after the update? Did the wiki page look different or didn't they read the whole thing? It clearly says this on the third line of the page: Powertrain completely replaces the old "drivetrain" system, but is able to convert older vehicles on-the-fly to a basic form of the new system (compatibility mode). Not saying every older mod will work but they strive for backwards compatibility.
So, I assume this new update won't have on-demand 4WD? Might look into making my CVT mod a ECVT mod if I finally can find out how to simulate powder clutches.
torque convertor with constantly changing gear ratio instead of slipping clutch to full speed for a cvt now that would be sweet except it would be very boring
You answered your own question. If it isn't a picture or in bold letter, people won't read it - that's Marketing 101.
So, uh, I'll bite the bullet and question when the update is going to drop. It's been 2 weeks past the "usual" date, not that that's a problem, it's just that they usually push what they have after a month to keep the userbase happy. But the last update was the first week of October, and now it's last week of November. I can only hope that means we can expect some more spicy features.
Well, the standard jingle is "the Beam Team doesn't have a fixed update schedule". I'd add this is the update speculation thread, so we should speculate and not ask things nobody knows (probably not even the devs). So, I'll speculate Christmas time is a nice moment to drop candies. BeamNG.Santa sounds kind of cool. Getting a sled and a small frozen mountain map would also be a nice bonus.
Drivetrain update is expected, as well as the possibility of improvements to loading times. Patience. Good things are coming.
It is past the usual update times (not that they have a fixed upload schedule), but I feel that an update is just around the corner. As some people have said, there might be a Christmas (or holiday update if you want to be pc), and I am now starting to believe that that is the most likely outcome. There will probably be a vehicle because we already know of a few cars that are already in-game, and might be finished. The drive train features are almost guaranteed, as they have updated the wiki about it and it has been talked about a lot recently. Anyway, patience is key, and the next update will be soon,
I literally have no idea what this picture symbolizes, Now I'm sad... I'll spiral into deep depression and probably meet my fate at the end of my loaded revolver.
