2 solid months of very quiet dev activity and communication. 0.8.0 will be the next release with at least one new vehicle and tons of work done 'under the hood'. Wouldn't be surprised to see two new vehicles and a new map honestly. The cup is ALWAYS half full around here.
Sorry to burst your bubble but next version will be 0.7.2 as quoted by the powertrain wiki: http://wiki.beamng.com/Powertrain Should be an decent update with a car, gps, powertrain code and some other stuff?
Maybe some engine sounds? Everybody is forgetting the fact that there is a sound-designer under the BeamNG devs since at least 4 months
I am extremely excited for an updated sound system. I doubt it will have been completely redone already, and I imagine they'll want to reveal the new sounds all at once. Even just the glass-breaking sound added a lot of realism and enjoyment to the game, imagine unique engine sounds, tire sounds, etc.
I think a lot depends on when they release. If it comes out this week or next, we will probably get just one car and no map. If they save it for a holiday update, I could see us getting two or maybe even three cars, depending on how they work on cars. I doubt West coast will come out this year, as hutch was only starting on the buildings in the downtown area in late october. There is still so much work to do on that map it seems, with all the unique building they need to make, as well as the items for the city such as light poles, mailboxes, storefronts, etc. I'd love to see it this year in a holiday update, but at this point I don't think I'm going to be holding my breath. I'd love new sounds as much as the next guy, but I'm not expecting those until at least spring. They have one guy working on overhauling the entire sound system for the game, as well as making new sounds for all the cars and the possible sounds they may make.
Hadn't seen that thanks. It is hard to say what the build version will end up being at any given time. The jump to 0.7.0 was a complete surprise to me and there have been others like that. I take all references to the build release numbering scheme ( even by a dev in the wiki ), with a grain of salt. Past jumps in build version numbering are clearly unpredictable and depend on what the devs feel is appropriate for the progress level achieved. After seeing the wiki info I am now inclined to think 0.8.0 may be further off than I suspect. The good thing about this thread is it is hardly scientific or requiring a degree in behavioral sciences.
