After the H Series (and the Bolide, if it is next), which vehicle do we think will receive the next overhaul? The T Series? The Miramar? The melty Pessima? Probably not the last one, but who knows. On a different note, after map overhauling is done, is there any idea what map would be added next? Will it be another American map, a proper German map, or will Japan get a map finally? Maybe a French map to go with Cherrier? Add a British/Swedish/Russian map to go along with a potential new vehicle? What would the Devs like from a new map that they can't get from overhauling existing ones? The Australian desert, Russian taiga/tundra, or an entirely urban map are all possible, as they would add new forms of terrain while allowing unique car cultures to shine.
I actually think about this question a lot. Now that you've brought it up, what are we actually "missing" in terms of driving scenarios? I can see a right-hand drive map (Japan? England? IDK), that would make sense with cars like the Pigeon and the Miramar. And I can see snowy environments, with ice on the road and deep snow. Maybe an autobahn (that would make sense on the ETK Experience Center map if that gets a remaster). But other than that, I can't think of any other specific driving scenario that is entirely missing from Beam, and that makes sense with the existing vehicles(*).
My guess is Japan, especially with the work that @JorgePinto and @swift502 have put in to making lit up buildings possible, I think we could see a Tokyo centered map. Expanding the performance center with those roads actually going somewhere would be my second guess, especially with Texas - I mean - unnamed "Southern midwest" USA coming out in the next update.
That's cool! Where did you hear that?
Well that's the speculation on how industrial and port are becoming the same map, we don't know for certain, but I'd say there's a 77.777% chance (okay, yes that's pointless accuracy, about 80%)
That's cool! Where did you hear that?
He’s talking bout the port/industrial-remasters coming up. They’re both set in texas right now
Being around here from a long time ago, I'm always suprised by the huge community spectations about content (new cars basically and collaterally new maps) and the lack of interest about core game features. Replays or AI traffic are recent huge leaps forward in the 7 years history of beamng and have made the sandbox experience much more rich. I6 diesels, Wendovers, facelifted T trucks or even better flat tire visuals amongst other things that have been recently speculated or wished here are just improvements that could be compared and sometimes surpassed by the talented modding community we have (so talented that they are becoming devs in what seems a great strategy for beamng). I have enjoyed hundred of hours messing around with the game, just driving or taking screenshots, but whenever I play a good scenario or even replay the experimental campaigns I get the sensation that what this game really lacks to realize its masterpiece potential is the game itself. So for me the most interesting update speculation would be around campaigns, new game modes, scenarios, etc. Other improvements, while very welcome, are starting to feel, after so many years, like an eternal extension of early access, kicking the ball forward forever without aiming for the goal...
I agree with what you are saying but I think the devs are working on career mode as well as new content and are releasing the new content/bugfixes in the meantime so we don't all get annoyed as they work.
Career mode has been promised for quite some time. Not sure how far along they are with it all, but hope it comes sometime within the next couple updates.
is it just me or does the WCUSA seem different in the videos that are used on the main thing when starting up the game
Because the main menu ones are technically "outdated" but not really These were taken before the utah remaster in 0.18 so it still has the old lighting.
No I mean they look new, as if the new features have been added because some of it I don't recognise, like entirely new structures and overpasses, possible related to the video with bolide in perhaps ?
There definitely are new features in WCUSA, the only one I saw was the ramp thing at the start of the Bolide time trial video. Here's a crude side-by-side, image on the left is current released version with image on the right being the new unreleased version. That's the only difference I spotted, but it's very possible I missed something. Edit after looking at the 2 pictures: the new and improved WCUSA also seems to have more trees in the background that the current version does not have. Here's a shot of what the spot where the trees off to the right looks like right now:
I wouldn't say it's a "lack of interest", just that there's nothing to talk about. I've seen maybe 3 people say they actively don't want BeamNG to get gameplay features, but for the most part it's just that there's nothing to talk about yet. In the last update alone, we got the Vivace/Tograc (with a full devblog post about them, plus the usual teasers), major additions to the D-Series, H-Series, and Roamer (again, teasers for all of them), and the Small Island remaster (with teasers). We always know roughly what to expect so there's always plenty to talk about and to base speculation off of. As for major gameplay items, there hasn't been much in awhile, bar a couple of quickrace routes and scenarios once in awhile. We got a ton of AI stuff in last year's summer update, which was mostly a surprise. We got Light Runner in 0.14, bus routes and Hustle and Bustle in 0.12, (none of which had teasers or got much community interest), procedural tracks in 0.10, a UI sneak peak in August of 2018, and back in Over the Horizon in 2016 we got a sneak peak at some research stuff and career mode, a fair bit of which we never heard anything of again. My point is, we don't get much content in the game play department, and rarely get teasers when we do. There just isn't anything to speculate on. We know it'll come someday, but we don't know what it'll look like or have the vaguest idea what the timeline is.
I believe that a teaser may be released on Tuesday, and the update shortly after, based on the early August-lay July update estimation from a while ago. They’re doing this ‘teaser Tuesday’ thing now so it wouldn’t be to much of a stretch.
I do think the devs will release teasers on Tuesdays from now on, although not necessarily every Tuesday. Kinda like how R* drops updates for GTA online every Thursday.
