Honestly I'm not entirely sure that the Gridmap remaster would come in the next upcoming update(0.22), but possibly the one after it (presumably 0.23). Remaking maps takes a long time.
On the other hand, Gridmap is purposely basic, so I think they could get it done in a month or two (in time for 0.22)
Oh hopefulllllllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy they add more modern VEHICLES i really want a full sized SUV,modern super car, or a full sized sedan!!
This is not the place for suggestions. Check out https://www.beamng.com/threads/vehicle-suggestions-see-first-post.79/
We are probably looking at 6-10 weeks to the update. 1-3 weeks of that will be for QA/preparing for release. It sounds like Gridmap might not even be out of concept stage since Leeloo mentioned they are still going through feedback. Then consider the size increase of the map... That's a lot of work to get done for 0.22
Yeah, that's just concept art. If it's still in that stage, I wouldn't discount the probability it's not ready in time for .23, although I was surprised by the Jungle Rock Island remaster time from concept to release.
Speaking of concept art, here's my iteration of the Soliad Wendover that I spent too long making in MS Paint:
Do note that asset creation is likely far easier for gridmap as opposed to a more "realistic" map as everything is basic shapes with basic textures. The most important part of gridmap is it's layout and how everything meshes together, which is probably why that's taken so long.
The only thing that keeps me thinking that they will release Gridmap with 0.22 is that they have posted it and marked it as #TeaserTuesdays on FB post (2nd March). Why would they tease something that will be in an update after this one. Unless they did it before. Btw props are fine. Low poly at least allows to spawn more of them without affecting the performance that much.
I think Wendover teaser was the only time such a thing happened and it was very likely because of the super realistic photoshop CaptainZoll posted a few days before. Developers probably wanted to prove that he is not getting unreleased content and that Wendover is early in development. However, this is just my speculation regarding that and I am not claiming it is true.
It use to be very common for them to do that, it still happens once in awhile (though the days of "Teaser Tuesday" are fairly recent so there isn't much precedent to go on). As other's have said, the Wendover is one example. The D-Series crawler got a bunch of teasers before the release of the summer update too. That's already going back to the begining of "Teaser Tuesdays"...
are they though? now of all times would be a good time to update them, since they'll be making a whole bunch of new art assets for gridmap.
I think the only one that needs work is the Tire Stacks, because the tires don't separate and fly off.
I do also think a more realistic car crusher would be nice (I know there used to be some modded ones but I think those are all outdated now)
The barrel is the prop I'd most like to see get a full remaster - the Jbeam leaves a few things to be desired, and trying to stack them into walls or pyramids is really difficult at the moment because they often fall through each other. Getting a few different 'loads' and skins for them would be nice too. Blue-sky speculation would be that they eventually get tops that pop off with enough force, and a 'splash' effect like what we've got for gas tanks. I think that props are eventually going to get an overhaul, at least for textures if nothing else, but we haven't seen any signs pointing in that direction. Props aren't something the community generally gets excited about, especially when compared to maps or vehicles. I think that if we do get a more realistic car crusher (and it's one of the things I'd be surprised to not see developed between now and a full release), it'll be the mobile 'pancake' style car crusher - that way, we get both the crusher and an extra trailer for the T-series.
