Physically Based Rendering is a simulation of the way light interacts with surfaces, based upon their color and shape/normal (which BeamNG currently does), as well as their roughness and metallicity. Further reading, if you're interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physically_based_rendering
Could this metallicity be the beggining of metalic paints or something around this line? Because the current colors in BeamN.G look kinda weird on the cars, I think there was another thread where someone from the BeamN.G team said something around the lines of not being possible for now as you can only ajust the colors and chrominess, would PBR be able to change that?
I always saw peoples loving metallic paints but I don't see in which way they differ from a regular paint and why it isn't supported in beamng rn could someone explain ?
Not really, chrome reflects a lot, metallic is just shiny This is chrome: And this is metallic: The latter looks way better imo Also correct me if I'm wrong but I think metallic is street legal while chrome isn't
Yiannimize: really? Reallly? Mate, I dont think Chrome is illegal?. Metallic paint has shiny flakes in it. Basically glitter on paint but veeeerrrryy small glitter. So it basically makes the paint pop in bright light.. Also, that's how you can also make iridiscent and color shifting paint! And that looks amazing on some cars.
I would love to see more chameleon/monogram paint schemes, but they suit some cars better than others.
maaaaaaaaaaaaan that's a TVR! They're sick, check em out sometime. Aaaaanywas, I will return to this post with some actual speculation.
This is the update speculation thread, not the TVR speculation thread. Take your Trevor Wilkinson fetishes elsewhere. I wonder what new engines the wigeon will bring to the pigeon lineup? the DOHC, ITB'd (basically from a motorbike) engine would be too fancy for a basic wigeon, but it would also be ridiculous for it to use the 658 diesel. they might make a 550cc petrol engine, but if they can find sound files, I'd imagine they may try to make a 2 cylinder, to improve the overall variety.
early versions could have an air cooled 360cc 2 cylinder and later versions could have a water cooled 550cc 3 cylinder. a low power electric version is also a possibility.
For yall talking about metallic paint shaders, I did previously add a custom shader in the game to mimic car paint so you can get an idea on what metallic car paint actually is Custom shader left, default material right. Both using CK's metallic paint mod. DO NOT TAKE THIS AS SOME 'leak' OR ANYTHING, THIS IS A HACKY, INACCURATE, AND BADLY MADE TEST JUST MEANT FOR REFERENCE
