It's true, Hirochi can be that type of brand with sporty vehicles with special/exotic engines but I'm still not convinced in how it could make both Boxers and Wankels, especially since Boxers are already what we've been knowing the brand for, with the SBR4. That's why I say the Boxers become Hirochi's staple across its entire lineup. I don't necessarily say BeamNG brands should resemble real-life brands (the nature of BeamNG is such that they kinda do this already anyway), it's just that I want a clearer brand identity for Hirochi. That's also why I think a third, smaller Japanese brand could be the sporty Rotary brand and it could also be a subsidiary of one of the two larger Japanese brands (because that's how the Japanese were doing it back in the days of their economic bubble), preferably Ibishu since it's the least interesting of the Japanese duo! Also, don't forget we already have 4 American car brands and two of them are subsidiaries (Burnside for Gavril, Soliad for Bruckell). Not to mention the bus company (Wentward) and the truck trailer company (Randolph)!
If there would be a Rotary engine within BeamNG I feel it would likely be an Ibishu or subsidiary of Ibishu, if Hirochi does the boxers, why wouldn't Ibishu do rotaries.
why are we all hung up on specifically mazda wankels? ETK is known to have some audi inspiration, as does cherrier, specifically in its engines, so both of those could concievably be given an older model with an NSU style wankel.
It doesn't even need to be an older model, Audi did toss a wankel into the 2010 A1 e-tron concept... For some reason... Between the Sunburst and the Vivace this wouldn't be the most unique option, but I felt the need to mention it anyway. Now I need to figure out some way to use this to justify suggesting a wankel Cherrier Audi TT...
And why wouldn't both have normal engines, except for top trim / sports vehicles ? I explain : The SBR4 is for example what we could consider as a sport car, so it make sense to put a flat4 inside of it. The base configuration of the Sunburst is clearly not, and it wouldn't be logical to make it motorized by a flat4 when an I4 does the job, except if you want to simply copy Subaru... For Ibishu, I think that some cars could have a Wankel, like the 200BX, or the Miramar, but the rest of the cars could stay with "normal" engines ! And then, we could also imagine something French/German from the 70s, which has a Wankel available
The Base configuration of the Sunburst clearly isn't set up for performance, so only this version can use the 1.8 Inline-4 with the optional CVT. But for the versions above it there's the basic 2.5 NA Flat-4 of the SBR4 Base (with 209hp/260Nm), the Twin-Turbocharged 2.0 Flat-4 of the SBR4 S (with 300hp/350Nm) and the Twin-Turbocharged 2.5 Flat-4 of the SBR4 TT S (with 350hp/420Nm). And for bridging the 72hp/85Nm gap between the Base and Sport versions, a version with the NA 2.0 Flat-4 (173hp/215Nm) could also exist. Let's call this version the "Sunburst S". So we have: Sunburst Base - 1.8 Inline-4 with 137hp/175Nm Sunburst S - 2.0 NA Flat-4 with 173hp/215Nm Sunburst Sport - 2.5 NA Flat-4 with 209hp/260Nm Sunburst Sport S AWD - 2.0 Twin-Turbocharged Flat-4 with 300hp/350Nm Sunburst Sport RS AWD - 2.5 Twin-Turbocharged Flat-4 with 350hp/420Nm I don't think it's too hard to make a lineup, honestly. Especially since the aforementioned horsepower figures are also produced by the existing 2.0 Inline-4 versions (and the Base 1.8 Inline-4). So why not put the Flat-4s in the place of the 2.0 Inline-4? Plus, the "except if you want to simply copy Subaru" argument is just plain wrong because by that we could also say that ETK copies BMW, Cherrier copies Peugeot and Audi, Gavril copies Ford, Bruckell copies GM and Dodge, Ibishu copies Honda and Nissan etc. It's simply unfair.
Looking at it canonically, it doesn't make sense for hirochi, a small independent manufacturer, to have two separate 2.0L 4 cylinder engines at the same time, especially when both have a fairly similar power range between the base models and sports versions. and considering the sunburst is already dimensionally based off a 90s Impreza, there's no reason they couldn't make the base model a 1.8L FWD boxer layout, as the 90s base imprezas were (albeit they had a 1.5L enigne) from a game design perspective, it differentiates it further from the vivace, and the way the devs have been eluding to it when asked suggests the're probably already set on do it.
Or, like what I mentioned a few pages back, an American rotary like what was prototyped by General Motors to be used in cars like the Corvette and AMC Pacer. Granted, those cars never entered production with rotaries, but I wish they did.
Damn guys, a lot of speculation for just havong the Update drop. Most Japanese manufacturers had seprate 4 and 6 cylinder sportscars in the 90s, so I find this unlikely. Especially considering that the 200BX is a near carbon-copy of the 200SX. What about NSU and GM? So? This could be used for an AMC-style independent (and probably defunct) American manufacturer. Am I the only one who thought that I-series looked different?
I feel like Soliad could be a good AMC stand-in. Lore-wise, Soliad could have been an independent company prior to the 1980s when Bruckell acquired them, much like how Chrysler acquired AMC's assets when the brand became defunct. To add more lore, Soliad probably became a victim of the 2008 Financial Crisis when Bruckell had to be bailed out by the US Government. It'd be interesting to see what kind of cars mid-2000s Soliad would have been making, whether it be unique and luxurious cars or rebadged European (and Australian?) imports.
I find that unlikely, considering that Soliad doesn't really have the quirk for an independent, and its only car (at the moment that is) has far too much in common with the LeGran.
It doesn't make sense for the 200BX to have 6-cylinder versions. Instead it would be more realistic to have a larger, more GT-esque model with V6 and/or I6 engines. For example- Silvia and Fairlady Z Celica and Supra MX5 and RX7 FTO and GTO Eclipse and GTO MR2 and Supra
The Supra and the rx7 are in a different league. The celica can’t really be compared to a Silvia, it’s more so like an integra. There is little consistency in these tiers, but I’d say that there are low, mid, and high range jdm sports cars. The Silvia/240sx, eclipse, mr2 and mx5 represent the low end, fairladys and the fto represents the mid, and Supra’s, gtrs, rx7s, and nsx represent the high end. Celiacs and integras represent a sort of sporty ish commuter car, like a civic si, not a sports car in the true sense of the word unless you get the higher end models, like the type s and type r for the integra.
Fair enough, but the 200BX doesn't have enough engines, so even if it's an aftermarket swap for a Custom or Drift config, it wouldn't hurt to have a straight six available (and that damn V8, after 7 long years)
