Update Speculation thread

It might not be that much aerodynamically effective but its appearance is certainly too characteristic to be left out of BeamNG!
Plus ok, ~1.5kg (depending on the material and the paint finish - naked carbon fiber, piano black plastic and body-coloured plastic are the obvious options) isn't gonna make much of a difference in a 350hp/1400kg car!

 

Well. Talking about the next update. I would say it's mostly time for it's release from now to 1 and a half month from now. Why?
- 3 month cycle. We are a week away from the 3rd month being over.
- They teased the Civetta multiple times, and so the Covet remaster. (not talking about content, Civetta may not be included on the update)
- QA_Stable means there is a stable version uploaded to the database. This DOES NOT MEAN it is the one going to be launched, but it's stable enough to be uploaded as a base to work on.

Again, not saying it will be released next week, but 1 month and a half from now (as much).
I accept criticism against my speculation.

 

We aren't even sure if the devs are going to update on the 3 month cicle or the 6 month one as they did for the last update, I don't think we are close, the vehicles have been shown on early phases yet, and the content creator branch shoul de updated (as happened at the last time) something around 20 days before the release of the update

 

Devs explicitly apologized for the extra wait last time and said they were coming back to the 3 months cycle.

 

But it is weird that the content creator program hasn't been updated as of yet, if it is in the end of 3 months already, I would se as justifiable if they had to extend it again, as they are apparently working hard to remaster the Covet and doing a New Vehicle,as well as the probability of the PBR updates for the remaining maps, and as I stated, at this time we would have at least seen some in-game teasers of the car and remaster, but as of now we only had sketches.

 

Do we have any firm proof that they actually update the content creator branch before a update? I'm not just talking about 0.24

I don't think they'd show full complete sketches of cars unless they were already done lmao... We know how these devs work, they hold their cards close and not say a word until its time.

 

Yeah, 3rd march would be the end of the 3 month cycle. But as I already said, i would not wait for an update the 3rd but a month and a half from the 3rd.
And as Sparks4 said, they won't even show a line of a new car if it's not gonna be released this update or the next one.

Talking about the "only sketches". We have a photo of the covet body kit already. So you think they sent that photo just when were starting? like,if they were first of all making the widebody of the car? Nah man. Widebody is not the first thing you model of a car. That car is almost finished or already finished. May have small tweakings but nothing big.

I'd expect the update around mid-March or whatever.

 

The content creator branch is quite new, and there haven't been exactly any patterns yet, but they surely have been released to some content creators even for feedbacks (as happened with Ermin Hamidovic discussing about force feedback), Devs would probably use this tool for these kinds of things, feedback on more professional drivers, other conent creator that are keen eyed as well, it's a very important branch for the development, and with a release of a new car and a remaster, i bet they will test with them first before the publixc release, as the devs stated, they are trying to reduce the amount of hotfixes they have to make so they can keep the 3 month schedule without having to have half of the team compromised with hotfixes for majority of the time

 

To be fair the 3 month schedule doesn't mean they should release at EXACTLY 3 months, i'm positive the update could be released before the end of March

Agreed, it's getting awful close to what should be update season and all we've seen so far is concept art and renders. April at the very earliest, they probably want to avoid having the next update be a buggy, incomplete mess like the last one and then having to spend months making hotfixes instead of content. I am willing to wait for quality!

 

Exactly. The 3 month update schedule is closer to saying "around that time" rather than an exact day. Some people tend to forget that

 

This was also something bugging me for some time. It's almost been 3 months after the release of big update, and we have not had any in game teasers, only early sketches and designs of covet and civetta, how will they push it to general update cycle? Even if it's more than 3 months, say 4, isn't the content still in too early stage to be completed till that?

 

this has got me a bit too, im thinking that its not going to be an instant switchback to 3 month update schedules, rather a slow working back into it, which means this update might take closer to maybe 4 months to be released, its understandable, especially since there is alot that needs to be fixed on the basiton at the moment and im sure they would rather finish making one vehicle working rather than output another one right away, which is why we have only seen concept drawings and early renderings, since alot of the time at the moment has gone to making preexisting issues be gone, since it is a legacy update too (0.25) its understandable if it takes longer since im guessing they are cramming content in like mad

 

I will say that when this thread goes to being “when relez” (as annoying as it is) it does seem to mean that the update is getting closer. That doesn’t mean I like it tho.

Think this thread is just one massive social experiment by the devs to see the lengths we will go to to find slightest details about contents of the next update.

there was a stretch where every license plate shown in teaser images was google searched over and over to see if there was hidden meaning, wouldnt suprise me if they do little things just to get a crack out of it
