Update Speculation thread

they did make gridmap V2.0 not that long ago.

but otherwise, since then the only stuff they likely need to rework is converting the existing maps to PBR, and a possible remaster of the cliff map, meaning they've likely got something at least at the planning stage.

and whatever it is, I'm almost certain it'll be another 4x4km map, as it would just be weird to have Italy as the only large map in the game.

No offense, but that map is never going to get anything. It was something that four guys could make to give more variety to their game, but now that they are a proper indie game studio, it wouldn’t make financial sense to remaster that map.

I can actually see that map becoming official content. However, I don't think it would take the "Cliff" name. Cliffs main purpose was to be a cliff, not a town. It's main purpose is so basic that it cannot be improved upon. I love Cliff, like everyone else, but it just has no potential for anything to be added to it.

 

What about some offroad trails for the cliff map?

 

I believe that a new map could be coming. AFAIK, every map other than cliff has undergone a remaster and cliff doesn’t really need a remaster for its intended purpose. It’s been 3 years since the last all new map.

Gridmap V2 is just a heavily updated gridmap.

 

Gridmap V2 is still supposed to be an evolution of the original Gridmap, it's a new map but it's not a new new map

Hey, updating Cliff would be a worthwhile task!

Sure it functions fine as-is, but remember that the game is being upgraded across the board with PBR. At some point, Cliff will probably get some fresh terrain visuals and updated rock & vegetation assets.

Granted, I wouldn't expect it to ever be the centrepiece of an update, but I do think that a Cliff remaster is an inevitability.
