Update Speculation thread

Tdev said a “sunny and dry” map was in the works.

 

I think Tdev said that's coming for 0.27

 

They said the update "after the next one", it's a bit ambiguous, it could mean both 0.26 or 0.27 tbh

 

no, update after the next one (said before 0.25) is 0.26

 

"the next one" could have referred to 0.26. Because to Tdev, 0.25 was mid-development, so it was "the current one" even though it wasn't officially released yet.

 

i wonder if the covet was supposed to come out in the update but with no new body styles, and then people kept asking for new ones like a sedan, wagon, crx type, etc, and so they decided to delay it for the next update so they can add more stuff, but thats just my opinion i could be wrong,

 

Yay, 8 more months of waiting for the next update because kiddies wanted sedan.

 

I figure the devs typically have an idea for what they’re making sorted out before they start making it and, while they may still pick up a couple new ideas during the development process, I can’t imagine any of them are large enough to delay the vehicle by a whole update cycle.

 

I do get a feeling that the Covet remaster will be quite large, with how long it's been in development

 

i'd say it likely just got put off because there was even more work than anticipated in the scintilla.
still, i'd expect we're most likely going to see more than the covet remastered in 0.26, probably the moonhawk or grand marshal.

Tbh, the Covet needs its variety to be expanded. After all, if all the bodies we've been talking about (small sedan, small 5-door semiwagon hatchback-type thing, small coupe) are gonna be added, they're all gonna fill in some clearly empty niches in the BeamNG lore. Currently there's no Sedan smaller than the Sunburst, there's no old small 5-door Hatchback and there's also no old small FWD Coupe (we only have the Wendover for the role of the FWD Coupe and that isn't exactly small and sharp handling). All Covets will prove to be Swiss Army knives if AWD systems are included in the Covet update though (and they most definitely will be included). Plus the AWD systems are also gonna make the 5-door Hatchback a more compact option than the Bruckell LeGran Wagon, with its AWD SE Campagne variant.
Also, the 1.8 SOHC I4 (which doesn't equip any existing Covet variant at the moment) can be a great engine for the 5-door Hatchback and the Sedan, it's got plenty of power and torque for moving these two car bodies along with the families they will be carrying.

In fact, I just thought of the engine variety, depending on each body style.

3-door Hatchback
1.5 SOHC, 1.5 DOHC, 2.0 DOHC

3-door Coupe
1.5 SOHC, 1.5 DOHC, 2.0 DOHC

4-door Sedan
1.5 SOHC, 1.8 SOHC, 2.0 DOHC

5-door Hatchback
1.5 SOHC, 1.8 SOHC
