On that note, I would actually love rocks lying around off road so it would make some crashes and off-roading way more realistic
There hasn't been a new post on the thread since Saturday. Have we run out of things to speculate? Usually this close to an update this thread would be going crazy.
Who gave you permissions to post that image? Especially using it to make fun of myself and a now cancelled mod. Would be nice if you deleted the image. Thanks
I guess that's what's happened because we made every possible hypothesis we could. It's a usual phenomenon during an imminent update time period.
We need teaser or update. If this thread some day stop speculating then people start asking questions like: Spoiler When update !?!?!?
Bold prediction: I expect the update to come by the end of this month. Why? Because they said they wanted to go back to the 3 month cycle and it took extremely long to go from 0.23 to 0.24 and 0.24 to 0.25. By doing the cycle almost exactly 3 months after the previous update, they can return the schedule to normal. Also, the Covet remaster was teased in game before 0.25 if I remember correctly, so that’s a good portion of the update done before the 3 months, so it would make sense to see it in September.
Actually, your prediction is far from bold because the very first teaser for the remastered Covet, which was the flared rear fender design, was shown in early February and, from official dev information, we know that it usually takes about 3-4 months for the devs to create a new car, from conception to final inspection. Yes, the Covet is not a new car, it's at its remastering phase but don't forget that the latest remasterings of the LeGran, the Pigeon, the '96 Pessima, the H-Series and the Bolide were done from scratch. Also yes, the Scintilla took about 5-6 months, which is about 50-55% longer a time period, but I suspect that the sophisticated dynamic handling electronics plus the support for the carbon ceramic brakes (for which we were also told that making them actually weigh less than the standard steel brakes has a certain degree of bug detection difficulty) were the reasons for the extended creation period. So, supposing that the Covet is a substantially easier car to work on than the Scintilla (I mean, it's only got ABS as a driving aid and the shape of the car isn't exactly an aerodynamic challenge, with the only slight detour on this being the fat fenders of the MR body and the various Street and Race variants that are gonna be based on it), that the devs still haven't shown us anything else other than the animated shifters, the Ibishu TurboFan wheels (is this their actual name? If so, it's amazing!), the new head-/taillights, the new body parts of the MR Turbo and the MR Turbo itself and that we still have some Covet surprises to see, then I am also pretty certain that the work on this car is done for the most part.
It is pretty bold though, they said they are delivering an early version of career mode in 0.26 (or at least something that was widely interpreted as such) and historically have hit a wall every time they tried actually getting career mode done. That alone will probably see the update delayed to winter (at a minimum) since failing to deliver on that would lead to a violent uprising of small children who have been demanding it. Personally, in an ideal world, I would rather 0.26 not be held up for career mode, but I'm not the one who has to deal with the spam and threats that would result
Having an early version of the Career Mode means exactly that: not the final version. So it's natural that we expect it to still be polished by the 0.27 Update or even later than that. Regardless of the children uprising, the message is already given! Personally though, I don't really care about Career Mode because the variety of the represented vehicle types - plus the fictional brands and brand names - in the BeamNG lore and the Soft-Body simulation of the BeamNG cars are the things that attract me the most, so I don't mind waiting for it to be fully ready, no matter how long it takes.
I always feel bad because I don't care about career mode. Sure I'll play it a bit, but for me BeamNG isn't about that. But I know the Devs have to make it, and the pressure is on to make it good too. Maybe they'll smash it, and I'll never free roam again. Who knows. I'm honestly just happy seeing what updates come out. There are a few world editor niggles I'd like ironed out, but otherwise it's all great.
Actually tdev was quite ambiguous as to when career mode was coming. In the Q/A session before 0.25 he said it was coming out "the update after the next". The "next" could've been 0.25 but it also could've been 0.26 because of how close 0.25 was. I'm hoping for the former, and career coming out in 0.26. I mean we all are. But if we have to wait another 3 months, that's just 3 months more for the devs to perfect it.
IIRC, with the "after the next" he meant the 0.27. We had already gotten in the 0.25 when he said this, so the 0.27 seems the most logical assumption. But I agree. Some of us have already been waiting for years for the Career Mode to be brought in the game that some more months won't make a big difference. If anything, the devs will have a bit more time to perfect it.
