the logic behind "its just another truck or it will probably drive the same" is similar to "lets get rid of the moonhawk or barstow (for the same reasons)" whats wrong with a new truck, maybe the new truck and bastion pave the way, that they'll might add modernized versions of the barstow and moonhawk
I hope this truck is from 2004. Succesor to D-Series. Next year newest D-Series pickup would be 20 years old. So its nice to see that we will get newer truck. But still I hope we see Minivan in future. Maybe Piccolina off-road and New Truck is done to take advantage od new dry and sunny map
Bc we had an Autobello Buggy in the files, now we have a Pre-Runner it looks like. We could be getting a big update for Off-Road Vehicles.
Would be nice for a developer / team member to pop in here and tell us if it'll be a road vehicle or just a track-oriented vehicle. Granted that we have never EVER, had a vehicle dedicated to 1 thing only. So, I would be highly surprised if the new truck doesn't have a production/street-legal version to it. It would still be nice for a developer to hop in here before things get way too out of hand... And I, for one...would love a modern production truck like the Raptor/F150-F350 or the RAMs to be added. Those would be sick
That is a really wrong. The Moonhawk and the Barstow are totally different vehicle classes besides the fact that one is a chassis-on-frame while the other is not
What? They're both FR American coupes with either inline-6 or V8 engines, live axles, and weight about the same. They both drive like muscle cars because they are. Also I think you mean "body-on-frame" and not "chassis-on-frame". Chassis-on-frame is like putting a bare frame on top of a frame with drivetrain in it.
Honestly in the early version of the game it was looking highly likely (vehicle wise at least) we where getting an early 2010s Racing Career based on the late 2000s car culture with a F&F kind of vibe, especially with the Grand Marshall being more reminiscent of the 90s police cruisers rather than the crown vic more prominent within policing later into the 2000s, as well as vehicles like the covet, pessima, legran, moonhawk, 200bx, roamer, etc (vehicle types rarely seen now, but common shitboxes before the late aughts "cash for clunkers" purging) which would point to an early 2000s racing game (which i would have loved) but with newer vehicles, more modern architecture as displayed in WCUSA, and other features (push start ignition gui for all cars) its looking more likely we are getting the racing experience in the modern era, with shitboxes littered around as well/
I still think that the overall vehicle 'feel' with the exception of maybe 4-5 cars works with this. The vast majority of cars is still in that era, and I think more coming is a safe guess. I wouldn't be stunned if we could in fact adjust the time period we were playing the racing game in, with dynamicish maps (some buildings, archetecture changes) just for feel.
I hope this is the case, however the overall push has been towards modern vehicles, with the Bastion, Vivace, and Scintilla all being modern vehicles released very recently, as well as recent mentions from BeamNG devs saying their intitial views on career mode have shifted since the game's inception suggest we may be heading to a more modern era instead, or at least have a 50/50 split as you mentioned in which the career is divided over a couple different eras.
A Trophy Truck would make a lot of sense for the upcoming "hot and dry" map we've heard oh so little about.
Yeah about this map, I think it'd be redundant to have it in the US, so having it in Australia or Africa would justify an Asian truck
Right, so the Beam Team is working on what looks like a trophy truck. Whether it's a custom tube chassis, a new truck, or just another D-series, we don't know. The only official map I can think of that's suitable for baja-style races is Utah, and maybe the WCUSA dirt track (though that one is more of a short course track). Which means that, theoretically, the next update could have the "very dry" map that Tdev mentioned, as it would make sense with the trophy truck. Speaking of offroad things, I do wonder if the existing offroad accessories will get a makeover. I mean, take the Roamer's cargo basket and all the accessories that go on it, the textures on these accessories look a bit...flat? Idk, but they don't seem PBRed, at least. Same goes with the offroad bumpers. Maybe we'll get some more offroad goodies like spare wheel carriers, or more roof basket/rack accessories?
