Update Speculation thread

Well, implicit in what I said is that we're probably close to the actual update (since that's when they do the actual marketing material), which means the next "teaser" we get may well be The Final Countdown

There's every possibility they've wised up and stopped using the creator program branch, since that pretty much gives away the release date whenever it's updated and Leeloo wants to create as much chaos as possible

I don't know what qa_unpacked is or does, but they don't usually make new branches unless something big is happening, like a major new feature or bug fix

Just speculation but, what if the "big thing" is not a teaser?

 

He's still easily my favorite person here for it though.

 

New depot means something big is either in the works or about to be revealed. This never happened before.

What is "unpacked?" I know that BeamNG's content is normally "packed" into zip files, and at some point there was talk of overhauling BeamNG's virtual file system... maybe having everything in zip files proved inconvenient, so they "unpacked" them into regular folders instead? That would be a fairly major technical change that would warrant a new branch for testing

I wouldn't hold onto the fact that there's an update coming today. There hasn't been a creator program update yet
