Can you guys not except that it is random? There is no pattern for release other than "when it's ready."
Except for the 6pm Friday release date they aim for every week. http://www.beamng.com/threads/any-idea-when-the-next-update-will-be-released.20591/#post-312156
Definatly no update today because they updated the qa branch that means no update and they are still in the testing and developing phase of the update so i guess tommorow or monday as it seems they arent working on saturday
I really hope the devs stop getting distracted with content and work on features, specifically a proper transmission, clutch, and engine simulation. Currently you don't need a clutch to drive a manual and there is no option to make it so your transmission doesnt let you shift and makes a horrible grinding noise or something when shifting without a clutch. Also there is no simulation for stalling and that is a vital part of driving a manual, learning how to not stall at every stop light. And if anyone mentions shifting from 6th to 1st yes that should screw your engine over to the point of catastrophic failure and lots of smoke with possibly fire.
its impossible to shift into reverse while the wheels are moving. it will grind and grind all day. im sure someone here will say sure its possible but in the real world it wont happen. ever.
Here's hoping I get back from work tomorrow to find an update for BeamNG.drive. It makes an 11 hour day of washing trucks not so bad lmao.
This, definitely, along with a better clutch simulation since currently it feels too linear (which clutch petals are not). For anyone with a wheel you have probably noticed it feels weird getting going, as though the car has lots of torque and then suddenly no torque, although messing with the linearity settings somewhat can help this but it still feels like you are flipping a switch, again which clutches are not. I should only need to say this once but this game could learn something from Assetto Corsa, not necessarily in the physics department but the controls department. Part of why Assetto Corsa feels so good (and is probably why you see so much fanboy-ism for it on other forums) is because the petals, and the wheel force feedback feel.. just right, whereas in beam gas, brake and clutch petals feel almost like switches at times. FFB in beam is alright, and its probably more realistic in some ways than Assetto Corsa's "everything has a manual steering rack" feel, but it would be nice to have a mode that helps you feel the road forces like AC's does. EDIT: Read josh below, Thank you. Also Thank you @estama! , assuming you come across this that is..
0.5.4[edit] Added different off-road tires, current ones are renamed, presets may be broken Rally lights and roofrack textures & meshes moved to the common directory, materials of mods might be broken ETK engine .DAE, textures and jbeams moved to the common directory, materials of mod might be broken. Changed leaf spring design, multiple vehicles (van, pickup, burnside etc). Old/Modded spring jbeams will be broken. Tweaked front steering on Pickup, van Engine curves adjusted, now it shows the real crankshaft torque instead of the theoretically version without the substraction of energy absorbed by auxiliary units Lots of sounds added to meshes with deformgroups like glass and lights Found on the wiki page, that could be a hind
