Odd, it went from a custom thumbnail to an auto-generated one. Might be one of those "Youtube being Youtube" moments tho.
Or make custom engines in the sim and export the samples to BeamNG for each engine, exhaust, intake, exhaust/intake manifold/header configs etc?
Super interesting stuff, I do hope we'll get a blog written up about this collaboration if and when the time comes. Definitely a lot of potential here for BeamNG and virtual automotive applications as a whole. Also hi update spec thread, been a while
In a thread containing suggestions for the ETK/800 remaster, Diamondback said the following: I thought I'd looks at different RL cars, and we might be able to infer whether this is a V8 or V12 they're referring to, and otherwise just how potent this top-trim level is going to be. Firstly, to clear up the debate around the size: the K series is not the size of a Z4 or SLK as some have claimed, but it is almost bang-on to the dimensions of the older R129 and R230 SLs: (the size of bounding boxes was obtained from wikipedia) now to compare: For the R231 (the closest year model SL to the K, albeit larger): The SL63 possessed a 580PS 5.5L TT V8, and the SL65 possessed a 630PS TT V12. With the previous-gen R230 SL, The SL55's 5.5L S/C V8 made 517PS, The SL65's 6.0 TT V12 made 612PS, And the SL65 Black Edition's V12 tuned up to 670PS. the newly released R232 SL63 also "only" manages 580PS. sticking to Mercedes, the AMG GT Lineup all uses various tunes of a 4.0 TT V8: the GT-C outputs 557PS, the GT-R outputs 585PS, still falling short, but the Black Series overshoots at 730PS. Then, the BMW M6 (a larger car than the K): The E63/64 M6's N/A 5.0 V10 made peak power of 500hp, with the F13 M6's 4.4 TT V8 also falling short at 567hp. then, for the Audi RS6 (the most powerful car they made): The 5.0 TT V10 of the C6 RS6 outputs 579PS, and the 4.0 TT V8 C7 RS6 outputs 560PS, One problem I see with the Audi engines, is the vehicle team tends to not to spread one RL marque's engines (at least from one era) across multiple in-game brands; Gavril has Oldsmobile and ford engines, Autobello has Steyr/VW engines, Bruckell has GM/Chrysler engines, and the place of "modern VAG engines" has already gone to Cherrier. considering that the ETK 800 and K are canonically early 2010s cars, it makes sense to lean into the specific traits of that era, which tended to be massive engines with loads of cylinders, rather than the downsized/turbocharged engines which have come about more recently. it's for those reasons I suspect it's going to be a Twin-Turbo V12, most likely wrapped in a mad, wide-bodied package akin to the SL65 Black Edition.
Which would make sense, given the fact that we know devs were working on widebody variant of the k series, maybe it was to give something along the lines of “knallhart” k series? With like 600 horsepower bonkers v12 or tuned v8
Don't get my hopes up like that; that would be a dream come true. Those mid/late-2000's and early 2010's AMG offerings include a few of my favorite cars of all time, including the SL65 Black. The SL65 was my favorite car in NFS 2010. I've always wanted to see an aggressive top tier K-Series in that vein.
Jesus, I did not know I needed this right now. It's going to be the Knallhart's younger, fatter brother. Also, I have no concrete evidence for this, but do you guys think there's a chance we will see a droptop/convertible model? Just basing this off the fact the devs are really going for new interactive features on new vehicles/remasters, and I feel like the K-Series would be a good fit for a convertible model on some mid-top range models. Imagine you could enter the car, press a button on the center console and watch the roof go down, would be sick.
Why do I think we are getting dirt particles on this update, I have a feeling that it will happen, that I never got before
i dont think such feature that i think has relatively low priority for the devs will come so soon one can always dream though
looks like we are getting an etk remaster chances of a moonhawk remaster are extremely low i was hoping for one this update but i guess not eh, etk k is starting to grow on me a bit so this seems cool too
Hmmm... The piping situation looks like we've got a Hot-V Twin-Turbo arrangement here (meaning that, for anyone who doesn't know, the twin turbos are placed inside the angle of the V-block for limiting the intake and exhaust runner path lengths and, therefore, making the twin-turbo engine respond quicker and more precisely to the throttle by spooling the twin turbos quicker), which is a first in BeamNG! The end result is that the engine is very compact. Plus the exhaust headers seem to get to the front and upwards below the small front rectangular cover part of the engine, so there's another giveaway point! I hope it's a modern ETK V8 with twin-scroll twin turbos, so that we have two BeamNG firsts in one! ETK is really missing a V8!
Very interesting idea! That might explain why it is so compact, but still looks kind of short for a v8 imo. I hope you’re right tho
I’m really trying to figure out what the V8 is going to go in. The K-Series is really too light for much else than an engine swap and it would be on the very upper limit for the 800-Series. I could see it in the 800-Series, but it would make much more sense in something larger.
