My thoughts exactly, plus a big turbodiesel I6 would fit a modern Medium-/Heavy-Duty Full-Size Pick-Up perfectly. Not to mention the existing modern Bruckell engines (3.5 V6, 5.7 V8, 6.5 V8, 6.5 Supercharged V8 and, why not, a modern turbodiesel V6 for the Light-Duty models - all combined with the 8-Speed auto) have what it takes to power such a vehicle. I'd love to see how much larger than the D-Series a modern Full-Size Pick-Up can be (and how much larger than the Roamer a modern Full-Size SUV can be). There's no doubt they will be much more technologically advanced than the D-Series and the Roamer, but it's their physical size the first thing to attract me! Not to mention again that the High Performance Pick-Up and SUV niche can be represented by these new Full-Size vehicles plus some other sizes (Compact High Performance SUV by Cherrier, with the Tograc and the 1.6/2.0 I4s and the 2.5 I5, and Midsize High Performance SUV by ETK, with the new 4.4 V8, in Twin-Turbo form, with the 8-Speed Auto).
I actually did a pretty in depth look into it, using the meanings of names combined with the eras they where given and any other information a while back, the DT825 is actually the Wentward DT40L we get in game, the 825 referring to the vehicles wheelbase, which is 8.25 meters long. There was however a Bruckell wagon planned early on, but this was morphed or was originally the wagon LeGran we get in game. The Squit after my research would have likely been a Saab Sonnet, given its the only other Swedish car with a name not compromised of entirely numbers, however the name 'Squit' likely would never have made it to the game in the first place because, as noted extensively in the 2014-2016 period, when many people searched for 'Jargl Squit' online, they had Google autocorrect it to 'Girl Squirt' which, obviously, is not an ideal circumstance.
Honestly not sure if anyone else said this but I'm too lazy to comb through the thread I'm thinking that the van will likely be a Cherrier, on the basis that every new car since 0.25 has been a new one catering to brands that only had 1 car from the BeamNG team. For example, the Civetta Scintilla was the 2nd civetta, and likewise the Autobello Stambecco was the 2nd autobello. It would be very hard for the only 2 other brands without a second vehicle to be the minivan; Soliad is like a luxury division of Bruckell, and while it's possible they could make something similar to a Buick Terraza, I don't think they would limit it to only a Soliad... And Wentward is a commercial vehicle company (at least from what they've made now), so I think it's not likely it will be a Wentward, and it would most likely be a Cherrier of some sort... I could definitely be wrong though, but just my 2 cents
they COULD very well bring back Burnside from the lore for it or is it a whole new brand altogether (maybe something Korean?)
Yeah, it could possibly be a new brand. But I feel like judging by what the developers have been doing for the past few updates, they're filling in more models for different brands and revamping cars developed earlier... I mean, I could be totally wrong, it would be nice to see a korean brand in BeamNG though
another crazy theory: Ferrettank is finally taking this opportunity to build his dream long-travel suspension sunburst, concurrently with the sunburst remaster, and the new van is a platform mate of the sunburst, like the Subaru Exiga.
what if the minivan jbeam was actually something to distract us from what the devs ar actually working on
Your point is valid, but Cherrier already has two models, the Vivace and the Tograc. They're based on the same platform (which is called the FCV), they look alike (except for the front fascia and the fact that the Tograc has two extra taillights on the rear bumper, obviously) but they're two different models. So I don't think the new Minivan/MPV is gonna be a Cherrier. But if it is, I'm expecting some serious space-age French aesthetics on the inside! --- Post updated --- Hopefully with the Flat-4s replacing the I4s in the Hirochi brand in general, since we already have a myriad of I4-powered FWD/FWD-based AWD vehicles in BeamNG!
That is a good point, the team has been going through the 1-2 car brands lately and giving them more platforms. I still think this is an Ibishu as it's been a long time since they got a proper car and the silhouette does feel Japanese to me, but I could also see this taking inspiration from the gen 2/3 Renault Espace and maybe being Cherrier. IMO there's a better change of that than this turning out to be American.
Yes, it could be an Ibishu... It does look quite similar to the 2nd gen Toyota Estima in my opinion, but the van also looks like a mix of the Peugeot 807 and Renault Espace. Only time will tell
Who said it won't? It's not the first time the devs forgot some upcoming content in the game files, maybe they're working on the career mode and will add these characters in a future update, who knows
Those have been around for forever, and at least two of those have been used once upon a time (the director one still is, for the Hustle and Bustle campaign). That's not to say that they won't be used in the future, but seeing as the updated driver training campaign no longer uses the 'Mike' character/portrait (the gaunt-looking guy with the clipboard and pen) like the old one did, I wouldn't bet on it. If A Rocky Start is anything to go on, the devs probably intended there to be more story-based content in the game, before changing tracks to what we have now. Spoiler: A Rant While we're on the subject, has anyone else noticed that the gameplay content has gotten a little more formulaic in these last few years? Dynamic and user-customizable, sure, but nearly every mission is one of only ~12 unique activity types. Bus routes, time trials, chases, AI races, gymkhana, long jump etc. There are several hundred missions in the game, but the only Flowgraph missions are 'A Run for Life' and 'A Leap of Destruction.' I get that it's easier to develop and maintain formatted missions, especially in bulk. And having weird one-offs that often rely on destruction probably complicates BeamNG's openly secret desire to be a widely respected driving simulator. But there used to be so many fun scenarios that would be perfect for adaptation to the mission system (Hard Parking, Intersection, Corridor, Dam Jump, Broken Truck... to name just a few). It'd be a crying shame to let those fun ideas die, especially with all the work that went into building the famously versatile Flowgraph system.
Hopefully none. I hate RNG based "loot" boxes in games and while I am sure that BeamNG Devs would make it better than most competitors, I really would favour it not being added at all. They really should make an "accidental" changelog like that.... the hissy fits the forum would throw would be amazing to watch
