Fixed It For You! Back on topic, Progress continues on Italy. Today Hutch showed us some assorted curbs and vegetation, mentioned that he was working on the lighting around morning and evening, and gave us some excellent shots that give us an excellent idea of what the terrain itself will look like (sans most of the buildings and other large props)
the more i see Italy, the more i think it may be coming sooner than we thought. my guess is in December at the earliest. hell, it may come before WCA
I think that we may see Italy before the end of the year, but it seems unlikely that it'll be released ahead of WCUSA. The latter is closer to being finished, with most of the props, terrain, and skybox appearing to be complete. It just seems like a matter of lighting, AI-compatibility, general optimization, and placing the last few pieces. I'm curious as to what WCUSA looks like under different lighting conditions.
I really would hope that wca will have lights in the night because eca looks quite spooky without them like theres a blackout or an apocalypse
would it be interesting to have an aption that allowed to keep the "outside" of a car broken but a perfectly working engine and drivertrain ? and also a feature to be able to drive with ruined suspension... ?
I was just thinking of that. The official maps could be dark, but an official mod (like DRI) could add lights to streetlights, and buildings. That way, the minimum requirements for the game don't need to be edited.
About Italy map - only I don't like fences or walls on every road? Really, road next to a field and there is fence. It won't be a problem it they were destructible but otherwise this will be a "tunnel map" with nice views. Also this don't look so "natural".
They aren't going to make it a "tunnel" map, none of the maps so far are "tunnel" maps (except for Hirochi Raceway, but that makes sense), so I don't think that the devs are going to restrict any part of the map with fences and walls, they are there just for aesthetic purposes.
I used to think West Coast USA was closer to being finished but seeing pics of Italy that almost looks more complete to me.
I just dropped into a random spot in Google Maps and it does look like Italy likes its guardrails. I don't think they're intentionally making it a tunnel map, Italy just looks like that.
So instead of people simply driving off into the smooth grass field, they can just crash into the barrier and die. Tax payers' money well spent!
They are like 1ft away from any car on the road and you are more likely to just run along them, much better than falling off some hill into a tree..
If I randomly dropped in Germany on autobahn so it that mean Germany looks like huge autobahn? I don't think so. I'm aware of that Italy looks like this in some locations, but there are also a lot of roads with curbs, ditches, trees or open with nothing near the road.
