I seriously doubt that they are trying to implement any sort of thermal or wear simulation to the current tyre model. I'd guess the reason why it is taking a while is because they are doing a bigger tyre model revamp. After all it isn't the thermal part that matters itself, but rather how the heat affects the tyre behavior.
they'll have to fix the rumbling at low speeds, the node-weight system etc to get tires to operate at realism level
It doesn't matter if "it's time", it's still going to take either an exorbatant amount of effort to implement, or it's going to tank the game's performance (or more likely both). I can say with certainty that tire modelling has been one of the few things the devs are constantly looking at improving and optimising, if there were some way to "just make" a far better tire model, they would have done it 4 years ago. they're still actively working on the whole tire thermal/wear model, and that likely will have to involve more improvement of the current system, we'll just have to see.
That's why we need a clear answer from officials. What are the realities of the situation, at what stage is all this
after playing with Engine Sounds Remastered, i realized how good it is to have varied engine sounds, old engines sound quite different from modern engines, the intake changing the tone of the sound, this creates more personality for the cars in the game, hopefully in a near future they will add more engine samples
Yeah, great idea to demand concrete answers on a feature that: - is currently under research and development - is unclear on how much longer it would take to complete it - has a chance to never be completed because it might require impossible things from this engine (or for a million other reasons) - is in a game that's still in Early Access I'm sure the devs would be happy to promise things and then get executed when they won't be able to complete those promises.
Was it? It is the first map that's off-road-focused but I wouldn't really call it innovative in any way
Last time, tdev hinted at thermals coming out in 0.26, people got hyped (including myself, I'm not gonna lie) but then they had to push them back as the implementation turned out much more difficult than imagined. It's probably better for them to just work on it and not reveal too much to avoid eventual hype
That's the thing that people have been waiting for a year for the promised system of tire heating, just want to know if the system itself is so complicated, or just before its implementation first rework the physics of tires, and then already implement terminal tires, we do not need specific dates, but only to know what the sequence of implementation, perhaps if we were informed then many who were nervous, would calm down ).
Or maybe, just maybe, you could stop begging for details about confidential developments. We'll get tire thermals when we get them.
What else should I stop doing? What is the point of this forum anyway? It's a sort of liaison between users and developers. You want a minivan? So you asked for it and you got it! I'm not so much interested in when the thermal tires will appear, but the general plans for the physics of tires and all that is related to it, and not me alone, this is probably my last post on this topic here, if the developers want to answer us, then fine, if not, then so be it,
I don't want concrete answers, but I think we would all enjoy more devblogs to just see what they're getting up to during development even if there is a disclaimer right at the top in bold and red stating that they are not finalised features. I'd find it fascinating to see what it is that makes things difficult and easy and what their goals and aspirations are in general, just more of an insight into the development of the game would be cool.
