Well that and vastly better AI, better aero, slipstreaming, stable, first-party multiplayer support, and a bunch of licenced race cars (not gonna happen) and laser-scanned tracks.
Off-roading is simply more feasible for them.

And countless other bugs that have been overlooked, for example, the 3.8 and 3.3 V6’s have the same engine lettering.

I could only imagine how ridiculously difficult ‘deformable’ terrain and tire thermals is going to be (and has been) to implement. So far the current “black box” model acts similar to the tires pushing through a viscous fluid. It works well in comparison to the prior tire model but something feels off. Predictable? Slidey? I can’t put my finger on it.
Just a quick side note, a few weeks ago I’d seen many people claim “a single modder beat the devs to the tire thermals”. Which is a great mod BUT the mod was a bit of a simplified work around which dials back tires’ friction coefficient with a neat temp system.
Anyways, I’m guessing true ‘thermals’ and essentially data-drenched surfaces require a tremendous amount of consideration, questioning, scrapping of ideas, and involves revamping the current tires, surfaces, meshes, reactive sounds, etc. which all have to be considered in the scope. Based on recent developer quotes we’ll have to keep patient and will hear about tire news once there’s an definitive breakthrough.
Other features such as tie downs will likely unfold soon as proper content is ruled out (guessing tie downs are introduced in 0.30). Maybe offroad drivables are stacking up to be in place for future feature releases? Or maybe the devs simply know the game works well on the trails. I personally haven’t grown tired of the offroad vehicles and believe they’ll be perfect for those of us who enjoy RP. I mean, offroading with winches and eventually reactive terrain to get stuck in. Who wouldn’t call that the perfect combo?

By the way, check out the reel they made, there’s different angles to the atv (you can see both seats well and different ui layout too)

anyways I think we’re getting ropeables and tie downs in 0.30, and the new atv thing, and maybe, the crane and other utility stuff and terrain deformation.
Tire thermals are different tho, the devs wanted to have a working preview by late 2022, and now, it’s been 8 months. I’m guessing we have to get it by the winter update, which is reasonable, but again, I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up later

Idk if someone mentioned this already but from what I’ve seen no one has. Anyways, behind the UTV and next to the concept art for the UTV’s front end you can see the front end of what looks to be a Mustang eqsue car here are some photos to compare

we already have a muscle car if this really is a teaser of a new car than i think it's more likely to be a modern SUV. Because i think that the devs would fill the gaps first because we dont have a modern SUV Tograq or how its spelled is more like a crossover.

OK so if we are getting a RTV off roader thing, And MAYBE just maybe this taste of this Mustang coupe/Suv thing. I think it will come in 0.31. And 0.30 will just be a remaster. Of the ETK I-series or the miramar ( how ever you spell it )

OR we wait 6/8 mouths. And it will be huge

    with a remaser
    this RTV thing
and possible ( if it is ) that all new car ( coupe/suv thing )

I don't see why they would have a muscle car and a sport SxS in the same project file.
I suspect that if it is the front end of a vehicle, it might be a utility variant of the same SxS.

Idk how you guys think about that but the drawing teaser they showed strangely reminded me of a Classic Range Rover and i would absolutely love that!
But again im happy for every new vehicle they implement since they always come up with enough variation that everyone enjoys the new vehicles in my opinion!

That teaser is a mix between a maverick X3 and a Polaris RZR. I see a lot of non offroad guys calling it a waste. Gotta say, I rarely play with the normal vehicles and only offroad. Me and the community I am with will love anything offroad they can throw at us.

I think some people who call this "waste" come from the 0.27 when comes the SP brand vehicle. Instead they're excellent, SP's vehicles came with only 3 configs because build only for race, and doesn't have other config like road, civilian, utilitary, police, ambulance. Maybe they're scared to be left hungry and a little sad for this king of vehicle.

I really hope that the devs are going to finally improve the steering of all the vehicles because idk if you can agree but the lansdale has by far the most realistc steering of them all because you can clearly feel that you are steering the driven wheels and you also feel with what weight class are you dealing with. The forces are just perfect. The steering wheel also returns to the starting point which none of the other really does. Its just the closest one to realism. But most of the other vehicles just feel like you are steering a bumper car its horrible and it doesnt even get improved with the remasters. I would love to see that getting improved.

Beyond that I do not understand why people are mad that the update is going to add offroad stuff and doesnt focus on racing. Its not a simracing game!!! This game brings together all areas of mobility so if you only want to race then go play Assetto Corsa or something else.

I think the people interested in racing (me, too, however I also like off-road very much) know what huge potential beamng has as a racing sim and would like to see that potential be used. Because beamng with tire thermals/wear and slip stream/ aero improvements would smoke ACC (except for the racing circuits maybe)

Yes but can say that at every point because BeamNG Drive would be a perfect Offroad, Race, Truck, Bus, Flight, Rail, Ship simulator its just perfect for everything so i think they should use theire potential for all that kind of stuff.

Generally in this sim, I don't really care about licensed/laser-scanned content, since BeamNG already has its own lore. But the racing parameters (tire thermals with degrading tread, tire pressures, dynamic environment surfacing, aero, slipstreaming, adaptive aero aids, brakes glowing red hot from braking friction, carbon-ceramic brakes weighing less than their steel counterparts and, generally, different materials weighing differently from each other) are certainly a great stairstep for the devs to climb in order to upgrade the driving experience in BeamNG.

Plus "fly"! We even have cars turned into planes! ;)

Why not the "Wildcat"? Sounds great too!

Hmmm... Could it be a modern 2-door Muscle Car? Like the Barstow brought up to today? o_O

The Tograc actually has a very specific niche to fill and that's the "Compact High Performance Crossover" niche. The powerplants are already available (1.6 "230S" I4, 2.0 "S 270" and "S 310 Arsenic" I4 and 2.5 "S 350Q" and "S 410Q Arsenic" I5 plus all the tuning parts for each one of them) and, combined with the Clutchex AWD system and the 7-Speed DCT (and the Sport 6-Speed Manual, for those who want it), they make for a truly compelling package. Now we only have the respective lifted S-Sport and R-Sport suspension parts for the Tograc Widebody Suspension to wait for.

I was thinking the same thing regarding the modern muscle car front end. It’s definitely still in the early stages so it might come in 0.31
