one thing interesting to note: with these new gooseneck hitches, the only vehicle currently capable of using them would be the D-series. if 0.30 is planned to be as big as 0.27, there could very well be another vehicle in the works, and a modern US-fullsize pickup truck would suit the utility theme, and the application of gooseneck hitches. (A modern pickup also seems to be the next most suggested vehicle after a minivan). alternatively, back when the H-series remaster was teased, many people suggested a Kentarch "van-truck" or "truckster", along the lines of the Ford E350 Centurion Van-Trucks, vehicles designed specifically for gooseneck trailer hauling. it's possible that like the UTV, they're revisiting popular ideas which they didn't get to make previously.
I was also thinking that a modern pickup could easily be part of this upcoming update, and I’d love to see it.
I think we will get a new modern pick-up truck soon-ish, specifically one based on the Dunekicker's appearance. It's outer shell doesn't resemble any vehicles in-game, and its simplistic design as an outer shell could be explained by it being modeled after an early concept of a vehicle that was in development. Trophy trucks all seem to be based on actual production vehicles, sort of like how NASCAR's outer shell is made to represent the manufacturer that is funding the team behind the truck, but the Dunekicker features no such markings. I did notice that both Dunekicker skins have some empty space on them, mainly on/near the doors and hood, which could be filled by a manufacturer logo once it's decided what company will produce the modern pick-up truck (most likely Gavril or Bruckell) I also wonder if we could get some of the features that were cut from the D-Series with this new pick-up truck, like that tow truck upfit that is (or was) buried within the files of the game.
Theres also a medium duty truck called the Kodiak that uses the Chevrolet Express's cab that could possibly be made from the H-series.
But this time it will be official, and less suspicious to have risk of bugs compatibilities like any other mod could have.
Exactly, a modern Full-Size Pick Up Truck (plus a modern Full-Size SUV based on the same ladder frame) is what I'd love to see and the addition of the gooseneck trailer seems the perfect opportunity. Especially since modern Full-Size Pick Ups can haul much more than their predecessors. Plus, Bruckell's modern 3.5 V6 and 5.7/6.5 V8s (plus a couple of 6-cylinder diesels) are perfect for the job. --- Post updated --- Yep, Bruckell's modern 6.5 Supercharged V8 is a force of nature (though the Ultra High Performance Radiator isn't enough at some point)!
What are the chances of us getting tire thermals and wear in 0.30? And is there gonna be visual damage in the tires textures?
a trigger transformer (like the prop transformer in the vehicle editor) would be extremely useful to modders.
i do think beam is getting more diverse in vehicles, such as prerunners, offroad vehicles, etc. i do hope to see construction/utility equipment arrive in the future, like a utility bed for the D-series
extremely low. any marks, wear or visual damage that translates to adding textures to the current texture is still undergoing development
While I'm not an american, after some research it seems to me that hotshot trucking is used a lot by construction sites to haul equipment around, since the driver doesn't need a CDL if the vehicle doesn't exceed a certain weight. Some of the first results on Google for "gooseneck trailer" have trucks towing large equipment like diggers and tractors.
I've had some spectacularly bad drivers deliver material to my job sites this way. Usually in a crew cab dually Ram that looks like it had been rolled off a cliff
