Judging by the sound of the engine, it's definitely a 3-cylinder (and more specifically, the new 3-cylinder sound), which is great news in my book! Also, love the ticking sounds of the engine cooling down process. I guess that's what the "chillin'" innuendo is about! Just adds a tiny bit more to the immersion!
Could be, although I don't think a car this light would have this issue with its brakes, especially if they're racing units and not equipped with ABS.
When a car has been running for a while and it's warm it will make sounds like this from exhaust and other parts cooling down, very cool, gt7 uses this same sound in loading screens after a race.
Sounds like the engine cooling down after its turned off, might be a sign that engine sounds could be getting a little bit more complex...?
it's probably a whole audio update, since if you listen carefully, you can hear the sea sounds are different aswell. (also probably since the in-game audios haven't been updated since the mid - 2019)
so i just watched the teaser and looks like i was correct about it being a racing variant also i was defiantly surprised when i heard the popping sound at first i thought it was heavy machinery but then i watched it over and over again and after reading some post i agree this sounds like engine crackles like when i shut off my 04 odyssey, so im looking forward to what this update going to have in it, who knows maybe even car reliability and car age
Okay, it's a speculatin' time: With this teaser showing the sound effects when the engine cools down + the lava lamp teaser, I think the devs are revamping the entire thermal system of BeamNG. The lava lamp demonstrates that fluids (like oil, fuel or water) have different volumes and resistences when cold vs when they're hot, and this current teaser shows the thermal system will be connected to the audio system in some way. Maybe we will get things like cars sounding slightly different when being pushed hard on a cold vs on a hot engine. I wonder what else they improved thermals on. Brakes? Tires?
This teaser really makes me think the devs are going to put some implementation of engine sim for sounds in. They've said they want to do it, and if they're updating engine off sounds they'll probably update engine on sounds.
> SXS in the Johnson Valley teaser > "the SXS is not part of the teaser" > SXS is now coming to BeamNG This confirms insects will come in 0.31
Some random details from the teaser: It's at the industrial spawn point on Small Island but with better effects (the sun is rotated 90° and the color temperature is too cool in-game) The SxS has race tires on (meaning either a race or asphalt rally config) The engine off sounds are clearly the focus but the engine doesn't sound like anything in game (maybe a new turbo I6?) They said something similar after the 0.29 release:
