We can at least identify wide, non-dually trailer tyres. also, what are the min/max length intermodal containers the extendable trailer can carry? 20’-53’?
New Teaser dropped! What do you guys think it will be. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH https://twitter.com/beamng/status/1729552665158291912
The vast majority of (EU) container trailers is exandable. Newer models with a single boom in the middle: Older ones with two:
The sound is certainly strange) like a sliding closet coupe, hopefully they'll bolt hydraulics to that?
US trailers usually have dualies, EU ones single tires. This would be a clear indicator, but sadly I can't really make it out in the Jbeam
I did a bit of digging on auction sites and did see a couple of those single wheel triaxle expandable container trailers for sale in the USA. Lots of them for sale in Canada. So I guess it wouldn't strictly be out of place on an American truck, even if it isn't the most common way to transport them here.
oooo slidy trailer also to the people saying it is a euro trailer because super singles those tires and wheels are becoming increasingly popular in the us because they are lighter allowing for better fuel mileage
I don't know about these trailers in particular, but for the extending flatbeds I personally am use to working with they pretty much are just dragged/pushed by force with the semi truck. It does make an awful grinding sound.
I think wheels shouldn't be taken so much in consideration. It's more a performance factor: tires are heavy to compute, it makes more sense to have half of them
I've seen extendable trailers without any hydraulics. They lock the trailer parking brake, unlock the sliding element and then drive the pulling truck to adjust the lenght.
They exist, but only in areas near ports and seacans, not many of them leave that area because the goods are offloaded and transported by either box truck or train
They aren't that common but they are a thing, I'm sure like the gooseneck we'll get tandem and tri axle configs
Probably but there are tri-axle trailers in the US, usually as two fixed and one drop axle. Clearest shot of the jbeam: There's also something sliding over the first axle (like in the second pic just above) and the teaser's named "teaser_slidenodes.mp4".
It has just occurred to me that despite having a shipping container in-game, we have no way to properly transport it What if the teaser from a while ago was a lift like the ones used in ports to move containers around? What about the new port on WCUSA? What about the other maps with major ports?
Previously I thought I saw duallies, but you're right! That's a wheel setup that's not exactly common in the US, if it's really used at all. Anything with three axles doesn't typically attempt to use super singles. That makes this a Euro trailer, which probably means there'll be a Euro semi to go with it! (Potentially Renamed) Jargl confirmed!
