IMO, WCA is getting expansions for two reasons: There's more that they want to add to the map, and They can do it easily ECA is great, and you wouldn't see me turning my nose up at more map content, but I feel like ECA covers most of the bases for its setting. Coastal New England isn't known for having heaps of heavy industry or container ports the way Southern Cali is, and while there are probably some things that could be added to round the map out a bit, I wouldn't say they could open up a whole new dimension of gameplay opportunities the way Spearleaf did. But more importantly, WCA is, vegetation-wise, a much more sparse map. You can expand a map beyond its terrain using static mesh (although it costs more performance per polygon and can be fickle to work with), as long as you're okay with having spotty vegetation. Trees, bushes, and rocks can still work on static meshes, but groundcover (the system responsible for creating grass blades, flowers, and clovers) will not. I'll never say never, but I just don't think that extending ECA outside the terrain block is a likely leap for them to make anytime soon.
The only thing we know for almost certain is the cement mixer of the T-Series is coming along in the update... And that's about it
I'd say same can go for WCUSA and Johnson valley, not only the devs mentioned it themselves, but also the license plate of both of the maps is the same (Johnson valley also uses WCUSA license plates) The biome and the region might be little bit different and further from each other, but i'd say it is easy enough to connect them through tunnels. having a tiny part of johnson valley accessible through the WC tunnel system, not only would make the game more realistic, but also would give the map a good expansion, somewhat like the spearleaf island. the look of the tunnels could also change depending on how close you are to each area. (if they think i adding such thing.) There's still the performance hit though, WC is a pretty heavy map... just like your suggestion.... but let's not talk about that here...
me waiting for the update speculation thread to actually speculate instead of saying for the 37th time "omg!!!!!! no teaser!!!!! i will throw a car battery into a pond if we dont get teaser!!!!!!!!!"
That would explain the "Large Tire" prop we've had for a while, and considering the T-Series just got a remaster with improved pneumatic and hydraulic simulation, it would make sense that a digger would be in the works, or other types heavy equipment Dev- "For no reason at all, does anyone have a Komatsu D355A that our dev team can look at? For no reason at all of course..." Our insane speculation=
On the topic of map expansions. I think they may be going about this the wrong way. No matter what you do maps will be left out. What needs to happen is a dynamic loader needs to be built and the majority of maps need consolidating into one big map. You could have italy as an island, and then all the americas as an island (joined up) and then when they finally add more european maps they can be consolidated. It just makes the game more....playable.
I think the eventual consolidation of all of the maps would be revolutionary but I don't think that it is anywhere near possible right now
My speculation: Multiplayer may be a thing due to a KissMP dev being added to the Beamng dev team, and the lack of teasers due to the nature of teasers and multiplayer. The only way to tease multiplayer is to show a UI app, nametag, or a server list. All of these revealed it though. Euro update is possible but relatively unlikely. Weather, maybe, just maybe.
I think the new update might be an italy remaster plus the addition of maybe a european semi. I think italy might get remastered because in the new trailer in steam there is no mention of italy even thought they mentioned a bunch of big maps. And for the semi they renamed it in the files from "semi" to "us_semi" so there might be a european semi.
