I'm also very curious as to whether the current fastback body will be converted into a hatchback to differentiate it properly from this new notchback body, or if it will keep its "sedan" boot. as someone previously mentioned, it does have some S14 traits, especially in the roofline, so the design will likely be a mix of S13/S14, to allow for an S14 style facelift, like how the lansdale had a mix of Gen 3 and Gen 4 chrysler minivan traits. That means we might see quite a few factory variants, between bricknose/slantnose, notckback/fastback, pre/post facelift, and USDM/JDM.
oh come on the one day i forget to check for a teaser, anyways when i looked at the teaser first thing i thought was oldsmobile! but i zoomed in and found out its not american, or could it, and while it did brighten my day i was confused to what it was but then i kept looking at it and hear me out, honda prelude, many people think this is going to be a nissan, but i think the prelude tail lights are very similar and the pop ups are iconic so i dont think they would get rid of them, so maybe an older prelude as well, on the other hand, hear me out #2, american and japanese, the headlights are also very close to the sides of a eagle talon, or Mitsubishi eclipse, im thinking that this might be a ibishu 200bx thats a pre facelift based on the nissan or honda but also a rebadge of a either new american brand since emerging means, {Newly formed or just coming into prominence} or possibly a gavril, based on the talon, or you know it could just be a 200bx based on the nissan, i also think since they went with the nissan for the OG 200bx i feel like they would make a twist thats unexpected, i also cant stop seeing american gavril now,
I'm actually a little sad now. I didn't recognize the bumper lines in the teaser (even after I messed with it in an image editor) and thought for sure we were getting a 90s muscle car, possibly Australian. The thing is, an official 200BX notchback would kind of be a downgrade as well, since the car's whole calling card was combining the coupe and hatchback versions of the S13 into a single fastback-coupe bodystyle
Not gonna lie, it would be cool if new cars were shown off in camo wrap before they came to the game, to hide some big details but still show us the car. It would also just be a fun thing to do
Ok, so I'm 95% sure this is a 200BX based on the rear light shape, trim going around the car, body line on the trunk, and rear bumper curvature. I also compared the wheelbase length and the car in the teaser was nearly identical to the current 200BX. A few other things we could see are physical mirrors for more cars and probably some career mode updates too. I'm hoping that another car gets remastered/refreshed along with the 200BX because I feel like just one remaster is a little underwhelming in terms of content. Most likely to get a remaster with the 200BX is the Mk.1 Pessima along with PBR lights and glass for the Mk.2 Pessima. Now for release date speculation, the first 0.31 teaser came out on November 14, exactly one month before the update's release. And the second teaser came out two weeks after the first teaser. Now obviously that could have just been the case for that specific update but it could be the same case here. We also know this will probably be a smaller update based on how small the previous spring update (0.28) was so there is less content to tease.
if the teased car is the 200BX, we're probably still keeping the current fastback bodystyle of the current 200BX which is like a 180SX and also getting the teased bodystyle, which is more of a notchback like a Silvia. presumably the front ends can be swapped between the 2 bodystyles so vanilla Sil80 coming soon?
The problem is, the current fastback bodystyle is a notchback coupe in technical terms. The roofline is similar to an S13 hatchback but it does have a separated trunk. Frankly I think it's better that way than creating separate coupe & hatchback bodies - helps set the car apart from its IRL inspirations so it maintains some originality.
While I thought it did separate it from its real-life counterparts, I did think the current design was kind of ugly and disproportionate. I think that they could change the proportions of the current design and turn it into a hatchback pretty easily so that the different body styles make more sense market-wise.
I wonder if it'll get renamed to "BX-Series" or something in vehicle selector. So they can make a 180BX with a 1.8 engine, 200BX with a two-liter, 240BX and so on.
I imagine it will probably be the platform name like with the Vivace and Tograc. Probably the Ibishu B Platform to mirror Nissan's S Platform.
I don't think there's any guarantee we'll see a second car remastered this update. As you eluded to, the april update is usually a smaller one, and it's been actually pretty common for a given update to only have one car: 0.30 had just the Aurata, 0.29 and the Lansdale, the gambler stuff was kind of tacked on extra 0.28 had the two ETK "refreshes" (and openable doors were added) 0.26 had the covet remaster (and odometers/animated shifters were added) The Aurata is a relatively simple vehicle, and the Lansdale already had all of its mechanical components done, so they would have been quicker than average. I suspect unlike these, the 200BX will be a fairly major remaster, the current body shape is notoriously wonky-proportioned and has a lot of bad shading patches all over it, the mechanicals will require a full remodel rather than just a quick retexture, and they may also want to go crazy with the quantity of factory and aftermarket variants. We might see "part 2" of the content for the T-series remaster, with parts like the cement mixer upfit, (and maybe a drop axle?) and rear guards, but that may have also been put off for later.
I personally believe that this teaser is part of "BX" platform, which would use 200BX as its base. Lots of components would be shared, something akin to FCV platform we got with Vivace and Tograc. Hopefully, we will get regular 200BX bodystyle, but also S13 Silvia bodystyle, with an ability to recreate Sileighty There is also hope for newer versions like S14 being based on such a platform, but that's mostly my thoughts
If it's a japanese car, I would like to see some configs like Super GT, tuning like F&F or NFS. This could add also some street race in the career. And some tuning pieces like Pink interior with subwoofers in the trunk, special small rockets under the back, showing like exhausts giving you some boost. With this, they may also add some arcade drift mode and boost arcade option on street race, regaining some boost by doing drift, driving near the traffic (if WELL DONE !!), have some WELL DONE police chases, and gaining reputation by playing street racer or police. By looking the picture again, even if it looks a lot like a Japanese car, it looks like a Corvette, a little, making me imaginating this car driving like Gran Turismo's photoshooting.
i dont know why ppl is still discussing what it's gonna be, it's clearly a 200BX remaster, outlines are pretty identical on most places
No matter how hard people try to pin-point a real life counterpart, Beam cars will always be an amalgamation of multiple different real life brands and models. On top of that, they don't have to necessarily follow any designs so some of it can also be part of the team's creativity.
I'm not really convinced this is a 200BX remastering, tbh... The car looks a bit large, even from a distance. If it is, I hope the 2.0 engine textures are updated to the current ones of the 2.0 Covet unit. It it isn't, I hope it gets a 90s JGTC variant with a side-exit exhaust on the left side!
