I saw yesterday Ferrettank changing blinker fluid on BeamNG "Gambler 500" BMW (on his Instagram). That's where I came from with this idea
I mean, we've known that night lighting can look good in the game for a while now. Utah and JV both have lights that trigger at night, and mod maps going back nearly a decade have had them, too. The trouble is that large urban centers (such as Belasco and Norte) need so many lights to look good that they would run performance straight into the ground.
Is Norte really the name of the town? I’ve always thought it was just the name of the spawn point. Doesn’t it mean North or something?
That's very true ... but it doesn't mean that I can't dream of the streets being lit with streetlights, and the Platin Gate Bridge all lit up and reflecting against the water... --- Post updated --- Can you link to this photo?
I'm surprised that lighting affects this much performances when lots of other open world games have them. I guess they can't bake the lighting , right? Though with most official maps having PBR now, that'd be nice if it was an experimental feature for those who want to try it.
They absolutely can't bake lighting because of the dynamic time of day system. I think it's mostly because they're using an old forward renderer instead of deffered or forward+ The big advantage of those two is that they let you render tons of lights with minimal performance loss while it's a big deal to have bunch of lights in forward renderer. They're not using deffered, right?
