I'll have to add, anti furry groups are cringier than furries, and anti gay and all that stuff. I mean just look at Andrew Tate fans bro... I've seen a guy Walk 1000 miles to Romaniana or wherever Andrew Tate resides to get a small glimps of that bussy
I find it funny how most "anti-furry flags" are designed in similar taste to an old german flag from the 1930s-40s... just sayin, they claim they're doing the right thing but they aren't and they do it in the worst ways
I think its ok, I doubt a lot of mods will be paid but I do want a safer way for creators to monetize their work. Right now you basically have to hand over cash and trust the guy to give you the link, for the link to always be there, for the mod to stay up to date and that the mod wont install a bitcoin miner on your system.
I’m pretty sure they’re either doing that or they took the whole dev team to get rid of that exploit that caused the leak in the first place
All the speculation as to why the repo is not taking submissions is baseless. We don't even know if the Disney thing was real because there's no credible source and no official statements from Beam
What they’re trying to do is make a system to prevent malware from being loaded into beamNG and the repository --- Post updated --- Or that’s what I believe (correct me if I’m wrong)
Didn't 0.32.3 and 0.32.5 patch the known exploits? They could be redesigning or working on something new. There was also mention on merchandise (website?, cant find source rn). Could be unrelated tho.
Yeah, it would be very encouraging to everyone to just start adding a price to their mods. People would start leaving the game in droves if more than even just %25 of the repo became paid
I really don’t think that many mods would be paywalled. I think a lot of will be free mods but with perhaps a “tip jar” where you can donate through the platform if you want. also, if anyone makes a paid mod I think the paid mod should be stopped taking new payments if the author doesn’t push an update after every beamng major update. This is what a few online stores do to make sure apps stay up to date.
They manually check submissions for malware on the repo. Thats the whole point of having a submission and control process. That is the system in place.
Or tg yeah I would hate the devs if that was the case and like kinda stop playing cuz, the long wait for updates ain’t cutting it. 50% of the time I play beamNG for the mods! If I can’t download the latest and greatest random mods what am I supposed to do
Updates near enough every 3 months for years on end, support 10 years after initial release, and the first update officially announced to be delayed makes you think the update schedule "isnt cutting it"? I sincerely doubt the powers that be are coming for your precious (and *heavily* taken for granted) supply of free mods. Do you really think after generating all that good will as "good guy" developers that BeamNG would turn coat, throw all that away and follow in Bethesda's footsteps in a move that made them one of the most hated publishers of the decade? Just for a small cut of mod profits? There would have to be an insane amount of money moving through the repo to make profit enough of a motivation for BeamNG to abandon their reputation. A far more likely reason for officially supported paid mods on the repo would be to prevent people getting scammed by shitty patreon mods (one of the main arguments people use against all paid mods), by providing a legitimate and controlled place to buy them. And I doubt theyd just let anyone slap whatever price they like on whatever tiny mod they wanted, even on the current repo mods go through some level of approval. Not that theres even a remote chance of it ever happening anyway.
