T-Series sound is a placeholder for now, but I'm surprised that the devs chose to simply pick that sound instead of buying a new sound. It sounds so utterly awful in the T-Series that it sounds like I'm listening to a 2.6-liter inline-six R32 GT-R cruise up a hill when I should be listening to a 10.6-liter inline-six in a 32-ton 18-wheeler as it motors up a hill. Anyway...as for the V10 engine sound...I reckon that that could mean one of two things, judging by Gabester's illnesses. Since he prefers older cars (as evidenced many times by the load of pre-2000s cars in Beam), this could mean several things for us, as the other vehicle devs could prefer newer cars instead. I've said in other threads that it could be... -A new ETK V10 engine -A new super/hypercar -Something else entirely
Or maybe they just licensed the V10 sounds now to account for future expansions, but have no plans for an immediate use of the samples.
Maybe someday :/ I'm GPU bound on this game with a GTX970. Which is pretty dissapointing considering it's an engine from the early 2000's
On my laptop the FPS dropped by 15 (from 30), but my PC hasn't noticed a difference, even at max settings. It's not exactly made of powerful parts, either.
both Ford and Dodge use V10s in their trucks, but only Dodge uses them in a car. V10s are rare for the number of different vehicles but quite common in what they are used for (pickup trucks and the viper)
I don't see why so many people are saying the Bluebuck will have to wait because it is Gabesters project. We've had other vehicle artists for awhile now, and not that many cars that weren't in Gabe's 2012 list. That means non-Gabe's must have worked on cars Gabe designed. We know Jalkku did a fairly significant amount of work on the Legran, which (like the Bluebuck) was on that list. Personally I don't think we have enough info for any reasonable speculation. -We know it won't be the Wendover -It may be the Bluebuck -Other "exciting" things at evening worked on, which means something we don't really have now -I see no reason why we cannot rule out a modern car (except for high end stuff with complicated electronics not simulated or structure which the game can't really deal with right now) That leaves a lot of options. Possibly something based off of Top Gear's Geoff....
It's been a while since the "Something is still on the horizon.." blog post, and I wanted to ask a few questions. Is PBR rendering being worked on currently? If so, how long has it been in progress/how long might be left? Are you still researching porting the current DX11 engine to the Vulkan renderer? That would allow Linux support, aswell as many performance/quality improvements. Tire simulation is one of things I am most looking forward to, is that being worked on? Finally, the thing I've been wanting ever since I first saw this game, car ownership. Will that be a part of career mode or implemented beforehand? What are edge collisions? Would the thread scheduler measure CPU performance, then only allow that many nodes into the thread before sending it into the next one? Just wanted to get some updates on future plans.
*Prays to BeamNG overlords* please be dyno, please be dyno, please be dyno... We have ropables, and ties now, what's stopping it from making a grand appearance?
Probably only I want changes in Garage mode. Right now it totally useless. Moving in car list is horrible slow and painful. You can't just hold button to move quickly, you need press it each time and wait for animation. If we finally choose a car, then we have another horrible menu with parts. This one is so much chaotic that I prefer (bugged right now, sometimes can broke UI and it takes a long loadings) in game parts menu. In garage mode there is a big on-off list on the right that is messed up like Windows folder if not even more.
The most recent update said that tire pressure is simulated in a higher fidelity way now, and 0.9 had an entire devblog section dedicated to tire physics. I think we can safely say that the devs are continuing to work on tire simulation.
I also think the Garage mode should get some MAJOR updates. Right now, it's ultra-frustrating to use and just plain boring. There's not much there that I can't do in the normal parts selector, and all it is is just a way to make your parts selection slower, but more pretty. It could be more useful if it... -Showed the prices for each part; that could help people like me gauge how much a certain configuration should cost. -Could be scrolled through more quickly, like you said. It's frustrating to have to deal with clicking dozens of times to find the car you want to build something from. -Had something which made it special, like a working car hoist or some other big garage tool. ...and probably a few other things that I missed, as well.
Ahh to end my ramble about diesels look at the difference between a Jaguar XFS Diesel vs a BMW 535D: Jaguar Damn that torque drop off on that Jaguar, BMW is the superior engine here...
I was just thinking, is it possible that this torquecurve is a hybrid drivetrain? just a thought, I might be wrong.
Sorry, both images had the same filename and so it got confused with the tiny images of Android file manager
