The ability of this community to extract fat from a fly is extraordinary! I never stop being amazed in here!
Really hoping for a 22b looking facelift IF it is even the sunburst they're working on. Not sure if this can be confirmed yet.
The 22B's from 1998-1999 - about a decade before the Sunburst started production (2009-2014). That'd be more likely a thing for an older generation of Sunburst. (Although that's not too likely to happen, IMO, since that'd probably be too similar to the '88 Pessima for the devs.) Although...the Sunburst could get configs similar to the S20x STIs (like the S206, from 2012) in its remaster - and there's a lotta precedent for it. We got Alpina-inspired configs for the modern ETKs in their refresh (Rennspecht) as well as higher-tier ttSport configs. Likewise, the LeGran remaster added the Sport SE V6 AWD, the Grand Marshal, D-Series, and Roamer all got RoadSport configs in their remasters, the Bolide got Corse variants (and the 390 GT Strada), and the Covet, '96 Pessima, and 200BX got GTZ variants (and the Covet got the MR Turbo). Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised to see something like this in the Sunburst's remaster.
The B pillar basically confirms it. The sunburst and the teaser image have the same notch on the b pillar.
Really really hoping we get NA and turbocharged F4s. I don't want to see the I4T stay in the car. Too many in the game at this point. Plus, it would tie the hirochi brand down to flat-engines being their bread and butter which would just be nice for the brand lore.
I'm calling it guys. It's not the Sunburst remaster. It is a brand new Pessima, an intermediate model between the two we already have.
That would make no sense at all. What would a THIRD pessima add to the game? This also ignores the fact that the B pillar matches with the current Sunburst.
The Sunburst finally getting a remaster... Man I remember the days before the Sunburst was released, when the devs accidentally left the Sunburst's body in the files so we all had access to the bare shell... Simpler times
If the Sunburst was a fair bit older, I could see that happen - but I feel like it'd be more likely for the Sunburst to receive a hatch variant, as both the Lancer and Impreza (which Gabester referenced a couple times as his inspirations for the Sunburst) stopped being built in coupe form after the early-2000s (2000 for the Sunburst, 2002 for the Lancer). Also, we currently have several coupes of varying sizes, eras, and powertrain layouts (200BX, Bolide, Scintilla Barstow, Moonhawk, Wendover, Nine, Wigeon), whereas we only have three hatchbacks in the game (Vivace, Covet, 200BX liftback). Of the alternate bodystyles for the remastered passenger vehicles in the game (LeGran wagon, 800 sedan, Bolide targa, 200BX liftback, Covet MR, D-Series Charro/Kentarch, Roamer LXT), only the last one changes the side doors to ones exclusive to that bodystyle. A five-door hatch likely wouldn't require changing the side doors - a coupe likely would (both the Lancer and Impreza coupes had longer side doors, and many other similar coupes had long side doors). It's not impossible, considering the Bluebuck exists, but that (and the Roamer LXT) have proven to be the exceptions to the rule for around five years. Come to think of it, that's likely part of the reason for the Covet MR, Hopper/D Crawlers, and Tograc existing (and why the Wendover didn't get a coupe and sedan, among other things) - the first three didn't need new side doors, while the last one would've needed those. I suppose that makes sense now that opening doors are a thing. Finally, Ferrettank owns a hatch Impreza IRL, and considering we already have his Gambler BMW in I-Series form, I wouldn't be surprised to see a hatch Sunburst body made to be able to mimic his Impreza. It'd also add a good middle-ground in terms of years between the Covet ('80s/'90s hatch) and Vivace (2020s hatch) with a 2000s/2010s example.
Now both of those seem really cool to have... (even if having another pessima doesn't make total sense )
Thinking about that, it'd make more sense than a Subie. With the lancer being a transverse i4, and the subie being the F4. But like I previously mentioned, its possible to slap the SBR drivetrain into the Sunburst, making the Subie option a real possibility
Several people requested that I publish this screenshot somewhere, and who am I to say no. This thread seemed appropriate I think.
Exactly! It's a great opportunity for Hirochi to become the Flat-4 ambassador in the game lore! Plus, as you and pretty much everyone of us in here has already said, there are too many transverse I4-powered FWD vehicles in BeamNG, so something different would be welcome! The Aurata is the only exception to this, due to it being a small and simple vehicle, designed and made solely for fun, so the 900cc I3 makes perfect sense for it. A Hirochi City Car with the same engine and CVT would make sense too (think of cars like the Toyota Aygo)!
