There is one exception I can think of when it comes to diesels, and that is Landsdale. However, 2.5 diesel is exclusive to EUDM configs, and it wouldn't much sense to have diesel USDM configs. And it also separates Landsdale from its older and US exclusive relatives.
As for Sunburst, hatchback bodystyle and diesel engine would make perfect sense for EUDM config, and if go by previous remasters, different market models aren't out of question. But there are few things that make me doubt this is going to happen. First off, Sunburst has quite bit of content, and while Vivace is bit newer, it already fits niche of more modern hatchback pretty well. And if they go down the boxer route, there is quite bit of work involved just to change it from transverse inline 4 to longitudinal boxer 4. Also, sourcing sounds for boxer diesel could be bit of headache, as Subaru was only company that put one in passenger car, and those diesel Subarus aren't exactly common cars.

It's not, but the hype train was already rolling and the teasers seem to point to it being the sunburst.

 

I remember there was a mod for Sunburst rear doorcards and I never really got it. Are they not able to be removed or something?

They became almost iconic for their horrible quality to the point where somebody made it a prop.

How about the new temporary barricades?

 

No one cares... About the Sunburst of course.
Everyone has been waiting for the new temporary barrier, Sunburst isn't cool like the barricade.

 

On the image we have of the rear door card, there is this cutout in the corner, which is not present on the 02-07 Impreza, which has frameless windows. It is present on the newer gen, where the window frame sits. The 08-14 WRX STI also has a similar brushed metal accent piece. Assuming it is the Sunburst, it would appear to be based on the newer 08-14 gen, which lines up with the existing model years for the Sunburst, 09-14.

Those do look nice, and I recall the dev's showed us a stop strip they were working on...

 

It's not guaranteed, and no dev has announced it as such, but it is highly likely (at least, IMO) due to the reasons I outlined here. TL;DR: The Sunburst is known for its bad rear door cards, so this focus on the door card would make sense for a remaster tease. Honestly, this is a really clever way to hint at a Sunburst remaster without doing the usual "dark silhouette" images (like the BX remaster).

Still, the Vivace (and the FCV platform in general) is yet another car to feature transverse I4s powering the front wheels. And we have eight of those cars in BeamNG (nine if we consider the Tograc as a separate vehicle model entity and ten if we count the current form of the Sunburst in as well). And since the Sunburst is one of the vehicles most of us in here want to see remade, I think it is worth the wait if we're gonna see it with Flat-4s. Plus, IIRC, some devs also share the same opinion!
As for a Boxer Diesel, you just made me wonder about what sound files could do it justice. Maybe the Diesel I4 mixed with the gasoline F4?
If anything, the existing passenger car diesels (the 1.5/2.0 I4s of the Cherriers, the 2.0 I4/3.0 I6 of the modern ETKs and the 6.0 V8 of the Gavril BOF trucks) are really good representatives of their respective engine layouts.

 

no speaker lol. They always forget that. The new pessima doesn't have door speakers either, it used to but they removed it for the remaster for whatever reason, i doubt on purpose
