The side guards of the track remind me of the Hirochi Raceway. I'd love to see a remaster/remake of this map, it certainly lacks some variety in its facilities. As for the car, remember that it could also be an SBR4 remaster since both it and the Sunburst share technical features now. So SBR4 convertible, maybe? Very possible, if you ask me! On the other hand, it could also be a 2-door Sunburst Coupe, like the Impreza R22B. This would be great too, not complaining! But a convertible Sunburst is certainly going too far for such a car! As for the track again, I like the fact that the drag strip finishes on an uphill. We haven't had that feature before, plus it reminds me of the Monrovia Maryland 75-80 Drag-a-Way Motorweek used in the past decades!
Well since Hirochi Raceway already had a remaster like nearly 5-6 years ago, it prob could see a remake instead
I doubt we'd be getting another full HR remaster. Some improvements here and there, sure, I could see that coming with a Hirochi vehicle update. It looks like that's what HR's going to get in 0.35 - how extensive, I'm not sure. I don't know if it'll happen this update, but I wouldn't be surprised to see HR become the first map outside of WCA to be included in career mode. It would be a very easy map to add in career - it's almost entirely focused on motorsports, with only small back roads around the track for "public" roads. These additions are likely preparing the map for use in career mode, since adding a drag strip would reduce the need to travel across the nation to do one style of motorsport. As for a Sunburst convertible...while neither the Impreza or Lancer got official convertible variants, the second-gen Euro Ford Focus, Nissan Micra K12, and Opel Astra H all had retractable-hardtop versions, and the Mk6 Golf had a convertible variant, as well. (And the many Peugeot CC variants, as well.) So, while it would be a bit peculiar for the Sunburst to be the first convertible, there's plenty of precedent for compact-sedan/hatch-based convertibles from around the era of the Sunburst. I think we might lose out on a hatch/wagon if there is a convertible coming, though - but I wouldn't mind being surprised by getting both bodystyles, either. It'd be very, very nice to get a proper competitor to the FCV's customization possibilities. The car looks much closer to the Sunburst than the SBR - it's got the same general lines and shape around that area as the current Sunburst. While that doesn't eliminate the possibilities of the SBR getting a remaster this update, I'm not sure if we'll get one. It'd make sense for it to happen, though. A 2-door coupe wouldn't be out-of-place for the Sunburst, either - while, again, neither the Impreza or Lancer had two-door coupes by 2009, the Honda Civic was offered as a coupe until 2020, and the Chevrolet Cobalt and first- and second-gen Kia Forte also had coupe versions.
The Mk5 Golf also had a convertible variant, called the Eos (named after the ancient Greek goddess of dawn and wind), with a very complex hardtop roof that also featured a tilting/opening sunroof panel (as seen on the red example). It was produced from 2007 until 2015 and it actually ended up outlasting the Mk5 (2003 - 2008) and Mk6 (2008 - 2012) Golf gens, reaching about half the lifespan of the Mk7 Golf (2012 - 2020)! The 2003 Renault Megane with the bustleback rear end (one of my all-time favourite cars in terms of aesthetics, it's just so crazy ) also had a variant like this, but its sunroof wasn't openable.
Some examples of saloons/hatches come convertible coupes that are a bit more appropriate to draw inspiration from for what a sunburst convertible could look like: Saab 9-3 Audi A4 Audi A3 I think a sunburst convertible would actually look really really nice, but it requires that the car has a coupe bodystyle. That way, it can retain all the seats and remain a good looking car There is, of course, the possibility that it is a hardtop mechanism like the above EOS. But honestly I would love to see a soft top equally as much
Yep, those are good examples, as well. One peculiar example of a "convertible" that I came across in my searches was the Toyota Soarer Aerocabin - this would be a comparatively easy way to add a convertible, IMO. I wouldn't at all mind something like this - just any proper operating official convertible would be fine. I feel like this might be something more fitting for the SBR than the Sunburst, though.
The SBR4 would also make sense, sharing many components (or will be sharing) with the Sunburst and would be firt to recieve a 911-esque Targa or convertible version.
While the styling of the SBR4 has grown on me over time, I can't help but admit that a convertible or targa version of the SBR4 would make it far less objectionable when it comes to styling
Hear me out, everyone is dead set on Subaru likeness, what if and a big what if the devs throw a curveball and base the remaster on a Mitsubishi instead or combine them both?
knowing the devs they probably going to., maybe with like diffrent font facias or something like that --- Post updated --- also maybe a new i4 and f4? that would be the dream update tbh
Yep & whats even crazier is that crazikyle was last active Today at 8:06 PM, i wonder does he know how massive this thread would become. Knowing it has to be the #1 most active thread on here.
Also to re-mention, I wish they'd update the particle fx & implement burnt vehicle texture effects after its been on fire.
It'd be an interesting reversal of Gabester's original design (Subaru-esque styling, Mitsubishi-esque powertrain). Here's this post from many years ago (which also explains why the current Sunburst has an L4 instead of an F4): However, judging by what we can see in today's teaser (and from previous remasters), I doubt we'll be getting that significant of a bodywork change to the Sunburst. It'll likely get some re-proportioning (especially around the front, to accommodate the F4), but we likely won't be getting a significant redesign for it visually. Even the BX-Series, when it got remastered with a new standard bodystyle (liftback instead of an odd liftback-with-a-trunk) mostly kept the design the same.
Hope with this Hirochi raceway update they add a little more detail to and around the oval cause Its one of the best short tracks ever. The prog banking makes any lane viable for racing. Hirochi in general is such a banger track tho. I've had some of the most intense tryhard racing on beammp with it lol
