Hmmm, this configuration of the cones could also be useful for the classic slalom and lane change stability tests, when the drag strip isn't used like intended! --- Post updated --- Just noticed something! Look very carefully at the white narrow board above the turnaround, at the far end of the dragstrip (it's best to zoom in it with your fingers, don't crop it because this is gonna ruin the already vague resolution)! What's written on it can't clearly be seen at first glance, but the first letter of the first word seems to be an "H" and the last four letters seem to read "OCHI". And the second word seems to read "DRAGWAY". So yes, this most certainly is a remastering/remaking of the Hirochi Raceway we're dealing with here and, just like this white narrow board suggests, the Hirochi Raceway is gonna include a Dragway in its facilities as well!
In the same way the pigeon and the wigeon are based on the same platform but are marginally different cars. I was thinking they can do the same to the Sunburst. Plus they already did an All Road type wagon with the ETK 800 so it would be a bit redundant.
Noticed something else just now: the WCUSA map may have a Figure 8 track, but it doesn't have it as a spawn point in its freeroam selector like Hirochi Raceway does with its own Figure 8 track. I think it should! --- Post updated --- Wouldn't say a Sunburst All Road Wagon is redundant, since Hirochi is more of an outdoor/adventure/recreation type company, as seen with the Aurata and the Rally variants of the current Sunburst. The ETK 800xc is there just to get a slice of the SUV/Crossover market. It's there for those who want high ground clearance but they also don't want an SUV/Crossover, like the Tograc or the 1300 (which may be a mod, but it could fit so well in the official lore).
I don't think we will get openable windows (sunroof more likely but doubt it). As it would require dynamic interior sound / reverb / muffulness. Second reason would be due to complexity. Modders don't have set standards, as in every mod can have different quality and different features. If devs decided to start adding some features that modders usually add to their mods (interior lights, foldable mirrors, openable windows etc.). It would exponentially increase the development time of their vehicles, and a lot of time would have to be put into adding those features to an already big collection of vehicles. Those features add complexity to the vehicles themself, it would also ruin performance. Vehicles like Procyon centauri and Hirochi CFF take a bit hit to the fps, atleast on my pc, its pretty noticable compared to dev vehicles. It probably wouldn't effect traffic performance, but would multiplayer (don't know if they take that in account). They usually end up hiring those people. The weather system mods I have seen are pretty barebones. They usually use a particle system that spawns rain / snow on top of where you are driving (precipitation emitter, already in world editor), or change the asphalt physics material. For features like scratches and dirt build up, they said they wouldn't want to half-heartedly do it. They would want features like those to be "physics based" and "realistic" and not simplified or "gamified".
A Forester type vehicle based on the Sunburst would basically be a Wendover/LeGran situation, we're basically talking about a new car that shares some foundational bits. And it has nothing to do with the existance of the 856 All Road. If the Sunburst can't get a lift kit and some cladding because the 856 has that too then 3/4 the roster shouldn't exist because it's too similar to something else and the hypothetical Hirochi Forester shouldn't exist because the entire car is too similar to content we already have.
And the common steering wheels. --- Post updated --- Last I checked, WCUSA did have a small dirt oval/ figure 8 track at the motorsports complex. I agree, it's mostly forgotten by players due to the fact that there is no spawn point at it, and the only road that goes there is a track service road.
The closest spawn points to the Figure 8 track are the "Race Track", "Dirt Track" and "Dragstrip" ones, so there's another factor. It could very well have its own spawn point!
Not really sure if rally cars are made by the manufacturer, I think it's the rally team that buys a regular car and modifies it for rallying
teaser Thursday! seems like this teaser alludes to a update to the career mode! looking into it, it seems to be adding a new car level system, maybe to even out racing to make it more competitive!
A performance index system! OK that is pretty sweet! Seems like we're are definitely in for a motorsports update!
the class system interests me, seems it's taken a note from forza's book with the classes (especially the existence of an X class). wonder how this will affect gameplay
