Probably right, although the those mirrors are the exact same type often used on school buses. Something else I’m gonna point out, the first teaser showed the wipers on the bottom of the windshield and the armored truck has them on the top. Plus I didn’t see a fan on the armored truck dash. I know this might just be a pipe dream but part of me still hopes for a bus body as well
It's probably the same reason why some vans "Including the mail truck" have rear cross view mirrors. This makes it easer to see blind spots
Which is especially important when you are driving a large vehicle that can plow most cars off the road
They’re 100% percent giving us multiple configs for the MD and I’d bet pretty good money a bus is one of them.
I believe the only type of MD Series bus we should get is an MD school bus. We do have a bus already, but no school bus officially in game though. I'm even surprised the Wentward doesn't have a school bus config even though we've already seen the support for one (The two Dansworth buses).
It would be cool if they added the armored truck to ai traffic and you just see them driving around or if they had police cars around them like if it had a police escort.
City buses and school buses are built in completely different ways. The only similar things they could share are the wheels and brakes, maybe the engine too but it would be modified. They have similar front doors, but the opening mechanism is very different on them, also the emergency roof exits while similar in principle function differently. There are many differences, like a city bus has air suspension with kneeling function while a school bus has a standard truck suspension but it has a pneumatic crossing arm and stop sign instead, they have different seating layouts, school bus has a flashing warning lights system where a city bus has route displays, school bus has openable emergency exit windows while on a city bus you have to break the glass... Irl there are no chassis platforms shared between typical school and city buses, so it would make no sense to make a school bus config for the Wentward bus, but there are platforms shared between medium duty trucks and school buses
All of these could be improved on for the Wentward. The door mechanism is sort of janky and slow, both doors open at different times. Honestly, especially from the inside, it looks like an outdated mod from 2019. Hoping for a remake or remaster soon and when that does happen, it won't be a vehicle anymore that is used by only 10% of players lol. It has lots of potential and I can't wait for the devs to cook with it
The door mechanism is also susceptible to G-forces and it lets the doors move around a bit. I hear some subtle door clanking noises every time I turn, accelerate and brake.
I was more so talking about irl city buses, yeah in my opinion Wentward can be improved more, but that's an unrelated topic I don't want to start a discussion about now
I suppose that is somewhat realistic though, as I'd imagine the mechanism might not be as strong after years of being opened and closed. Though I do agree that the Wentward needs some improvements, and possibly some features for modernization. --- Post updated --- Oh mb
In North America, bus windows require you to mechanically open the windows to use them as an emergency exit. pretty much all the side windows on a low-floor transit bus can be opened as an emergency exit except for the ones over the front wheels and rearmost pair of windows. I know in Europe and most of the world, there is a hammer you can use to break open the windows
I actually kind of like how the doors clank, it adds a sense of realism and was apparently quite popular on 90s American buses!
Actually, there have been some examples of school buses and transit buses sharing the same platform and body. Blue Bird Corporation had the City Bird (short wheelbase transit version of the All American), the CS-Series (different sizes of transit and shuttle models based on the All American and later the TC2000), Thomas Built had the TL960 and has the Transit Liner, both based on the Saf-T-Liner transit-style school bus. And, from 1986-93, Gillig offered a school bus version of the Phantom transit bus, which is pretty similar to the Wentward.
