Why though... let's say, if one of the maps gets ready by december and the other one by march, they can just wait for march to release both. (the community will be pissed, of course)
Italy probably won't be ready, but B25Mitch did mention that WCUSA was getting quite close to completion.
@Goosah Will the new filesystem allow for different vehicles to use other vehicles parts without having to include them? Like, If I made a separate car that still used parts from the ETKi, would I still have to include all of the files from the ETKi in the "new" car's directory, or would the game already know where they are (in the ETKi folder) and still read them from there?
I just found out about the third development sneak peek, and TBH once again the majority of things it shows are stuff I'm not really interested in. The only things that really got me was the whole modding getting faster thing, WCA's progress, the N2O, and those apps getting fixed, as that was something I had noticed previously. What I'd really rather see though is more info about the development of new vehicles. Even a most recent screenshot of the Bluebuck in the 3D modelling program used to make the vehicles would leave me satisfied. I'd be more than happy to just find out about the other stuff mentioned when the update containing them actually came out.
I would also like to see more info about new vehicles. I would like to see improvements to crash physics. Such as clipping being fixed, etc.
I accidentally stumbled upon evidence that several vehicles (including a minivan!) were at considered seriously enough as official content to reach the sketch stage, and might possibly have even reached the modeling stage. Please be advised: The only thing that can be confirmed at this point is that @gabester drew a pencil sketch of at least five vehicles with the original intention of putting them in-game. There is No, I Repeat, There is No Evidence to indicate that development went any farther than the sketch stage. Everything beyond that is pure speculation on my part, based on a post made roughly six months after the sketches were mentioned. Please remain calm and refrain from thinking that this in any way confirms development of a minivan or other vehicles. Any number of things could have happened in the last three years to cause these plans (which came from a very early era of Beamng's development) to be altered or scrapped. You can check out the link here.
so going through all that. this is what i found. things have probably changed since then (would love it if @gabester gave us an update on them): 70's personal Luxury coupe, 80's Station Wagon, a 70s sedan, an 80's minivan, and a 1969 Moonhawk. (stating here so people don't have to search)
Right. As best as I can figure, Gabester mentioned having 20 unfinished body shells at a time when 15 of the cars currently released or confirmed to be in development were not completed. That could leave us with five unrevealed vehicles, which could either be occupied by the five cars you mentioned, some other vehicles from the concept list, or other, completely unknown cars. The case is strongest for those five though, as they were all known to have reached the sketching stage. There is a possibility that they exist as hollow bodyshells, waiting for their turn to be put in-game. Personally, I think that the '69 Moonhawk was dropped in favour of the '71-'73 facelift, while the potential minivan and station wagon would likely share parts or a platform with the Legran.
While being useful information, I doubt anything here will ever be made. Posting it here may just raise newbies' hopes to dangerous levels. Luckily that's an extremely fun thing to watch happen. OT: With another developer preview and still no pics of the Bluebuck, I think it's time to say that it won't be in this update. There is still a shred of hope, but it's really looking like we'd have to wait some more.
I'm hoping against hope that at least some of them reached the modelling stage. I'm also hoping against hope that the big, red disclaimer will prevent new users from getting too excited. Really, nothing's changed other than the fact that we now know that Gabester drew little pictures of these cars with a pencil at one point.
Nothing can stop the hype of 11 year-olds who found this game from watching chained cars on YouTube. OT: pertaining to my last post, though, maybe somewhere in that latest devblog post there is some sort of hidden hint to the BlueBuck? For some reason I can't load their videos very well on my computer, so I haven't been able to watch them closely, but for all we know there is some little cryptic hint somewhere about the BlueBuck, like the hidden car in Friz's latest video.
Well, hopefully most of them don't have forum accounts. As for the Bluebuck, I'm scrutinizing everything like it's the Zapruder film (including the Zapruder film itself - I think JFK's "Lincoln" was actually a slightly-disguised Bluebuck). Where can I find Friz's latest video? I don't think I've seen that one yet.
Not many of them make it deep enough into the forums anymore. Seeing a 378 page thread about speculation isn't that attractive to click on, especially when this is so often just a spam fest. Occasionally we get some, but that's to be expected on a game forum and folks like that are to be expected. Lately they've just been going into the 2014 threads for their fill though. I want to expect these old projects more than I actually do, but it's still fun to discuss the stuff in development limbo. I never though about a '70's luxury car in this game, that would be pretty cool. I didn't think there was much unknown development limbo stuff left but I didn't know any of those other sketches existed. Too bad there aren't any pictures of them floating around. I wonder why Gabe showed the Albatross preliminary sketch but none of the others.
Contact the youtubers who do it like Car Pal and CrashBoomPunk. Tell them to come up with better content for more cash.
You're probably right about all this. And it is the speculation thread with nothing much fun to speculate about. As for a 70s luxury car, there's the oldsfullsize mod, which is more 80s, but has enough luxury configs to satisfy. An official one would be great though, and possibly bundling WCU/BlueBuck/Albatross-or-something-similar in one update would take BeamNG to unprecedented heights of popularity. --- Post updated --- Ehh, I don't think I care THAT much...
