Heavens, you mentioned the Raptor and you reminded me of something I wish absolutely nobody else comes across; the sun was setting and I was out on the road. Sometime, a Ranger Raptor appeared on the opposite lane and had its low beams on. It was so bright that I couldn't look straight and looked down at the road markings! But the worst was yet to come: thinking it would go past me a bit faster than it should, the Raptor driver (or, rather, the beam adjusting system) decided to turn the high beams on just before our bonnets had visual contact. That fraction of that second was by far the worst! I couldn't have ever imagined this to happen and, thinking the Raptor would pass without doing this, decided to turn my sight back on the road. So I got completely blindfolded and when the driver actually passed, I started swearing loudly, lowered my window, extended my left hand and did the characteristic Greek 5-finger-extending gesture of fails and anger (a.k.a. "Mountza" - "Naaa")! Back to BeamNG, I'm really curious to see what the future updates will bring on vehicle lighting as well! I'd love to see the development on this topic as well!
Just posting some things related to .39 and development in general. All straight from the dev team (Stenyak, really...)
The scintilla update released around June. (so ~5-6 months since update before it.) So it might be that the car has something new that is taking extra time, But most likely volumetric clouds or something else is causing the issues. Also tdev explicitly mentioning delay on multiple posts, probably means it won't be released in april, as thats the usual / expected timeframe. So don't be surprised if the update isn't before May/June. (It's better to keep expectation low to not end up being disappointed)
I really don't think it's the car. Can't think of anything on this particular car that would give them too much trouble (working with limited info obviously). And I don't think it's the JUST the clouds as we've already seen a working example weeks ago. I think it's definitely related to an overhaul of the graphics/environment/ or lighting as a whole. Maybe something as dramatic as moving to PBR back in the day. "The amount and quality of coconuts is being improved as we speak". So either coconuts is referring specifically to "codename coconut" and it's clouds, and we're maybe getting more dynamic weather, where it can go from cloudy to sunny, to rainy? Or it's referring to an increased fidelity of environments or graphics as a whole. That's my guess.
So skipping the fall update ( spring else where am Aussie ) WELL so be it, am just Glad beam is getting updates and love after all this time, its why beam really deserve all the LOVE it gets
I wasn't surprised that version 0.39 was delayed, since the same thing happened with version 0.33 in 2024, which was announced in July but the update came out around September. --- Post updated --- I hope they deliver something good as they always do I believe they are fixing the bugs and most likely focusing on fixing the graphics since we will have much more detailed clouds.
Lets speculate; Will the volumetric clouds also be used for volumetric fog (would be logic reasoning)? But also having volumetric clouds/fog but 30 year old 2D smoke from engine and tires seems off so will we get volumetric smoke?
I could see that. And if they do that, I don't see why they wouldn't do fire as well. This seems like something that could cause a delay in shipping the update. Figuring out how everything interacts while keeping performance acceptable.
I would not get my hopes up with this, it certainly would be really interesting but I hardly think they will be able to get volumetric smoke or/and fire in the game by this update(with acceptable performance), though it is also not impossible of course and I do look forward to when they do manage to. I just don't want people to get their hopes up too much
We're throwing out ideas. The devs speak cryptically, but they keep saying things along the lines of "you'll understand why this update took a while". So it's not something as simple as we added a new part to this map, we made a new car, or made an incremental improvement here or there. I think it's more complex and related to the game engine. I don't think we're getting rain, sleet, or snow. But something like improved particle effects or lighting techniques, I could see that.
I doubt it because it is a security risk. For one account security is harder to protect. Also a discord server is moderated by discord itself to some extent. You could risk people with work accounts joining other servers, they could get banned for other reasons. It is also harder to administrate and block access to certain things. There are no administration accounts where the company could control and monitor the accounts. It would be harder to be able to have personal messages. Yeah the interface might be familiar. But Microsoft Teams, or Slack or any of the other options can integrate into other software in ways that Discord can't. I'm willing to bet the devs probably use Microsoft office which can integrate with teams and whatnot. I would love to hear feedback from some team members, but I doubt they will see this. --- Post updated --- I'm full led in my Jeep. Led Low's and Led Highs. I aimed them the best I could. I also have a light bar in the grille. You can't tell. It looks stock from the front.
That would be great! Like improved particles --- Post updated --- Does anyone think there will be a teaser today?
Ah yes, the "not the Ibishu Capybara" --- Post updated --- I think we are getting a coconut prop. That's my guess. --- Post updated --- Comuta-car mentioned!!!
