That was probably me in both instances haha. Thanks for the kind words btw, appreciate it! Main reason I post on reddit is because discussions can be held in a much more structured and readable way than, say, discord, instagram, twitter, or here in forums. Some of those require an account to even read, and/or don't appear in web searches (so any help I provide, any information I give, is lost forever, which is a waste of effort). Also, as our community grows, things evolve too. We all grow older and wiser, it's easy to forget we may have been the ignorant ones back in the day. Even then, a bigger community means more nice people but also more not-so-nice people too. Maybe someone had a very rough day, or is going through a stressful part of their life, someone close to them died that week, or certain user account is indeed just 3 kids under a trenchcoat. You never know on the internet. Best to focus on the content of messages, rather than their form (but of course, if a line needs to be drawn, then it has to be drawn). Overall I think the community is growing quite nicely, given the age distributions, and its frankly unbelievable size nowadays. Always room for improvement, but I'd say everyone's quite wholesome overall
If anyone from Reddit is reading this, despite the kind words from Stenyak, I still think you're all degenerates. Anyway, hot off the press; speculate away, boys. All wild and crazy ideas are welcome in this trying time. I'll start with my list: -Official multiplayer -Porting to Xbox and Playstation -Pedestrians -Graphical overhaul, to include particle effects, volumetrics and a bunch of other programming terms I don't know -New map -We're getting a remaster/refresh of several cars. The vehicle team ain't just cooking the new Cherrier this whole time; they have to be working on other vehicles, too.
Ain’t happening any time soon if I’m correct. I think the only console port we’ll see is probably the new Steam Machine that’s coming this year.
So no tire stuff just yet, but what about aero? It'd tie nicely into the spicier motorsports variants of the upcoming Cherrier and help give the time attack Sunburst the handling oomph it needs. The latter's looks write a check that its actual performance simply can't cash, and the same probably goes for the Group 5 Bolide.
Exactly. If anything, I believe this is gonna keep our favorite sim/game away from degenerate commenters and content creators. After all, its depth as a simulator is endless and it truly needs us to think of it as a multi-layered simulator rather than just one for crashes. And we all know kids (and degenerate commenters and content creators) only think about the top of the iceberg sticking out of the water. Personally, I started thinking of it as a multi-layered simulator in 2019, when I started paying attention to the numerous little-but-so-important details of each BeamNG vehicle, and even more so with the 0.19 Update of April 2020, when the more modern and diverse Driving & Safety Electronics and drivemode-dependent variable peripherals like power steering systems, transmissions, suspensions, sway bars and exhausts were starting to be introduced!
I said “wild and crazy ideas”. I’m just speculating all over the place. Big brainstorming. Go ahead and try it brother. Give us something; we’re thirsty. What you got?
I can’t stop thinking bout the Key and Peele skit with you lmao. I think the devs are for sure making night driving possible with a rework of lighting, headlights, and real-time day/night cycles
Steam Machine is not a console. It is a pc running on Linux, so there will be no need for porting the game.
I agree that I'd love for the Cherrier goober to become a great little racing car - it'll probably be faster than the FCV, and that's already a very quick car. I hope it gets a proper hillclimb version - we lost the Sunburst one, and the FCV doesn't have one (or at least, not in the same vein as the SBR/Mk1 Pessima). I'm gonna be honest, I think the devs would release a JDM legend car with a new Japanese map, like how they released nitrous with WCA, ATT with the Automation update (holy shit, that was almost 8 years ago), the Piccolina with Italy and the off-roaders with JV. I have no idea when (or if) such a map would ever come out, but that would make sense to me.
I find it funny the correlation between the locations chosen for BeamNG's maps and other AAA games; GTA V was set in California in 2013, WCUSA was announced in June 2016. Forza Horizon 2 was in Southern France in 2014, Italy was Initially announced in April 2016. Forza Horizon 2 was set in Australia in 2016, B25mitch made multiple test environments based around Brisbane, Australia between 2018 and 2021 (before he left and started his own studio) Forza Horizon 5 was set in Mexico in 2021, Johnson Valley was released in December 2022. From this we can conclude that the next map will be set in Florida and Japan simultaneously
