Don't rear-ejgine buses and RVs have solid rear axles?

What we have seen is so far a dead ringer for the Beetle.

It's difficult to say that it's finished, considering we can only see the engine bay, and who knows how far along the jbeam is.

they usually tease stuff before they're nearly ready to release it. they started revealing the bus just a few weeks before 0.12

fine, texture & modeling wise it seems pretty good, and due to the fact that the (trunk?) is open / remove-able, it must be remotely done! :)

also i doubt they would fully finish modeling and texturing solely the engine and engine bay haha

Devs are known to add styling (Hopper) and engineering (SBR4) cues from real cars to in-game cars from other countries. The dev behind the Car X is a russian translator, so he is likely from Russia or another former USSR republic. That combined, could the car be Soviet? Like this:

Or like this Moskvitch, but rear engined?

This has got me really exited, can't wait to see what it is :)
It looks kinda similar to the Morris Minor's engine bay in the way the inside of the wheel arches can be seen and the flat bottom, so it could also be a bit like that? It's also got similar lights that stick out, just a bit more extreme, so who knows?

Wheel wells are visible in the engine compartment. While a lot of bits might be closer to the Beetle, the vehicle is probably very short, much shorter than the VW.
