After looking at this screenshot bit more, I just noticed the "hood" is actually a spoiler & not just an openable hood as it has those supports at the sides that make it look like it was an option straight from the manufacturer
Hmm.. did anyone notice this? Just wanted to bring this up, but one of the advertisement signs in WCA shows a RHD 200BX...
They probably just mirrored the image at some point when making that advertisement for some reason or another.
The image still looks correct when flipped horizontally, so them mirroring the image is probably the case. It hinting at a RHD 200BX is plausible, but it's a bit of a stretch.
It likely won't be finished. It was always meant to be a background object. We're lucky they opened the bridge at all.
In what way? I suppose they could take it closer in the direction of the Dart instead of the 880, but then they would probably have to ditch the X-frame that so many of us have been looking forwards to. I would love an official classic Mopar muscle car, but right now the 1960’s full-size car is the more important niche. *somewhat related thought* I’m really wondering how career mode will work out if we only have one vehicle of each archetype with so few official truly competing with each other. Just doing it based off of performance classes seems like it could get kind of weird. Just imagine a NFS game with only 1 classic muscle car, 1 hot hatch, 1 modern wagon, etc...
1 of every type is still better than none. I feel like they way they are doing it right now is the best solution to the problem, as modders can simply base their creations on official counterparts. Sadly a lot of good modders loose their inspiration for modding due to general lack of interest in anything that isn't a crappy meshslap *mushroom*, also the fact of modding taking up so much time which could otherwise be spent making money instead of doing stuff for free for a bunch of people who don't even respect you a lot of the time.
I don't know why you've been looking forward to an X-frame. That's one thing that was made very clear about the Bluebuck back in 2014. It'll still be pretty solid though. I look forward to what may quickly become BeamNG's go-to choice for demolition derbies.
I was thinking of this, though I’ll take that quote from Gabe as authority over Nadeox not saying no. Regardless, just swap “X-frame” for “characteristic toughness” and my point remains. --- Post updated --- I’m not really sure it is. Yes I certainly want to see variety in the car list, but (without turning this into the “Where are we going” thread) I feel that as a racing game there needs to be enough overlap in the vehicle list for classes based in things other than the performance rating, or else a lot of the racing would feel a bit off since it would have to be lineups like high spec Covet’s versus low spec Sunbursts. Letting the modding community take care of content works for some things, but when it comes to something as important as the vehicle lineup of a driving game there really needs to be a healthy official selection. I’m not saying that we need vehicles that are very similar, just stuff that has some overlap. For example, the Piccolina will be competitive in a couple of different classes, compared to something like the LeGran and Bolide which at the moment don’t really have any natural competitors in the lineup.
Most of the track configs have about same cornering ability between each other. On skidpad there really is not too much of spread in their results, engine power is of course different so laptimes vary bit more, but current track configs seems to be kinda balanced to run with each other at corners instead of maxed out. Also in a way they feel bit like setup so that modern ones are easy to drive even with a gamepad, but older ones are bit more lively. Don't really know what are tuning preferences, but it all seem to balance out the field, but of course modern turbo things have engine power to reach faster lap times. It will be interesting to see how field is eventually balanced. What I think about GTO is that such might be nice performance level to compete with Moonhawk for example, there is no 4 door sedans of the era, from my memory Bluebuck is 4 door sedan and I think it was late 60's ? Like Barstow has cues from Torino and Mustang, maybe Bluebuck would have some cues about GTO in it. Car for family dads who are not allowed to have that 2 door hard top anymore.
I don’t know how much the Bluebuck will actually turn out to be a Dodge 880, but that’s what the concept sketch was so until we see photos of it in game I’ll be basing my thoughts off the 880. The 880 was a midrange fullsize passenger car meant to fill the void in the lineup. I wouldn’t really call it a muscle car or a luxury car, Chrysler already had options for both of those market segments. The 880 is a fullsize 1960’s car so it isn’t tiny, but I wouldn’t go up to fullsize land yacht either. Definitely smaller than cars that are usually associated with the term.
You can get much more. The Bluebuck is based off the Chevy Impala (size, name, lowrider reputation), the near-lowest rung of GM's fullsize prestige ladder.
