aside from the posts in the Italy thread in the dev section, this is starting to feel like bugbear and wreckfest all over again......which is why i abandoned that game
The devs are working hard on the game. Just because you're not being spoonfed constant updates and info that doesn't mean the world's stopped turning.
lol. the devs are currently removing the old netcode from the game engine. it's a complicated task which takes a lot of time and cant really be shown as progress. Also , there are two completely new maps in progress , overhauled diffs and more unannounced stuff. Devs are working on this game permanently. but you don't seem to understand that it takes time to create quality Content.
http://www.beamng.com/threads/multiplayer.29948/#post-434096 It's nothing too 'exciting'. It's just dirty work that needs to be done. I can assure you the game is very far from being abandoned. We are working on a lot of stuff in the same time as I'm writing this. Along with the netcode removal (long and tedious process), new features are being added. Some have been mentioned in the microblog already
Dude, just no..... The Devs are working hard on this game maybe 5 days a week (is that right nadeox, or a different schedule) yet no matter the schedual, they work hard to make a high quality game for us, and it's not just Italy, there's WCUSA, Bruckel LeGran, Soliad Wendover, Gavril Bluebuck, New engine physics, that Suziki Swift thing Gabester said he thought of, etc
my reasoning for what i said earlier is that the bugbear devs RARELY post anything. it was starting to feel that way for me, but at least the Devs here are more open about things. and it is nice to know that
Hmm I just checked our internal change logs again: the timestamps show that every single day since the last update has had at least one person working on the game. This includes saturdays and sundays, in a summer period when many persons have decided to take vacation days for resting (so development pace has been slower than the rest of the year).
That's cool. Maybe you could make a blog post about stats like this? You must have some more weird stats
They're currently doing a lot of behind the scenes boring changes that nobody except actual developers would probably understand. Removing the netcode from BeamNG means removing almost 140 thousand lines of code and then adding back in any functions the engine depended on in a way that makes it easier to maintain their code.
i was just starting to worry is all, and i think i know what netcode is, it's the coding that deals with online features right? i may not be a developer but i've learned what certain terms mean over the past few years
Correct. And since BeamNG modified the game engine so much for their physics, the netcode doesn't actually handle their new physics code, so it's useless to have there. I remember reading a blogpost a while ago saying they eventually wanted multiplayer, but they would write their own code to handle it.
I think there´s a translation planned (You can see a new and suspicious thing in translations page: Language) and new UI Advices&Tips (You can see them in translating page too) I´ve also looked at internal files and there´s a beater old pessima planned Cheers
