It turns out that if you're driving a police car, you may occasionally encounter reckless AI, who you can chase and arrest. They only seem to appear if you are using your siren.
It seems the derby arena map has something more than a flat green land outside the derby area... There is even a now blocked road that leads out of the play area. All the terrain outside has collisions and the trees are 3D collidable objects, not 2D photos used as background. Are we facing a big easter egg, hinting at a possible expansion of the original map in order to make it fit with the landscape?
After looking again at the photo, I decided to point out something interesting, I may be wrong tho as this is pure speculation: State Road/Highway in pink, going across the entire map; A sketched city network in red with a roundabout; A runway of a small country airport (?) in light blue;
Of course the game would update at the same time as me leaving town to be 100 miles away from my computer. Now I have to wait all weekend fantasizing about and dreaming of playing the game...
I like and hate the fact the police will still remember you even if you change the colour/licence plate of your car, even if you change your car completely. Actions that will set off the police. 1. speeding 2.driving on the wrong side of the road. 3. colliding with another car (including police cars). 4. anything else?
Never too early to start hyping is what I say, so let's see if we can read some entrails here: Is Horizon/Crew style raiding going to become a thing at some point? I strongly suspect it. Possible for these to become fixtures in career mode? Possible base/safe house for career mode? Seems like every not-abandoned map (or close to it anyway) has to have some of these profane monuments to vehicular inadequacy now, so it looks to me like on-the-fly refueling is definitely in the plans. Pit buildings look amazing and have things like hoses for each stall; I'm not sure if this is just usual BeamNG thoroughness or if endurance racing with pit stops is planned to become a thing at some point in the future. Either way this place now looks amazing, like actually something out of Gran Turismo or something like that. ...possibly? portends more official big maps to come? Maybe not? Come to think of it, I never got an answer how they broke the 4km2 barrier. Did they just use a lower heightmap resolution like community megamaps have been doing, or did they find a way to allow larger heightmaps? Likely that the devs intend for custom campaigns, careers, etc. to become a thing. I believe this was also a feature of Traffic Tool, but its inclusion in the full game indicates that the devs definitely intend for police chases to become a thing and the wording of this line indicates that further refinements are probably coming down the pike at some point. This one doesn't portend anything grand but some people thought the Bluebuck wouldn't have taxi or police configs at release so I'm putting it here anyway. More vehicle realism improvements, and there's probably more where that came from. Propagating the subframe system throughout the vehicle roster should...? make realistic engine and drivetrain swaps much easier unless I'm completely having a derp here. In other words, just because a vehicle got body shape tweaks before doesn't mean it couldn't get another round. The devs listened when people mentioned the diesel being too powerful, apparently. According to the menu stats they're down to 190 peak. Sorry if this is a stupid question but can anyone explain what this means? Definitely good to hear as WCA had some of the worst AI pathing; possible @Gamergull helped? Hopefully it won't have a fit when a player is in front of it at a stoplight. Overall it looks like BeamNG has shifted from exclusively perfecting basics to expanding and perfecting content as well, which could have some interesting implications regarding where we are on the road to 1.0 or at least Beta.
The update has released, but now lets get back to speculating. You guys remember that concept board with characters for a campaign? Because alot of those are still unused. Maybe we will see some campains that are similar to the rocky start campaign and we could get a bit more lore and such. And what do you think about the Soliad wendover, because its just way too similar to the Bruckell Legran, i wouldn't be surprised if they would rework the vehicle quite a bit. And we also know that Industrial and port will get a revamp aswell, but will they merge the two maps like what they wanted to do initially? We will find out sooner or later.
Okay, i have a question. If BeamNG release Soliad Wendover on 0.19/0.20/0.21 - what's next? That 70's landbarge based on Chevy Monte Carlo? Some cars from that age-old list? Fire truck at least?
The civetta Fulmine is just too good to not be just a concept, i'd love a classic Maserati 3500 Gt with beamng treats.
maybe after the Wendover (hangover) gets done (crushed by bluebuck), the devs will look at the late fifties, there are some stunning designs from the Rock 'n' Roll period and I think it would be a fabulous addition to the burnside and buck, if they do something like that hopefully they shy away from GM and more towards Chrysler and Ford as they were truly magnificent cars that just dominated the roads. Especially the Chrysler's
0.15: car with a lot of content 0.16: half a car 0.17: car with a lot of content Vehicle work seems to be getting done quickly. I think we can expect the Wendover pretty soon. LeGran drivetrain, simple wedge shape, as boring as the LeGran so there shouldn't be many configs. As for the car after that, personally I hope for either the Fulmine (as mentioned by someone above, a vintage Italian GT is just too good to not have, even if it was forgotten about for awhile), another vintage Japanese car, or something from a new country. The fact that we only have 2 italian cars, 3 german cars, and everything else is American or Japanese (only one of which is vintage) is getting old.
I would love to have an Italian grand tourer or a vintage Japanese sports car. I can only imagine how fun they would be to drive around. Although as an Australian it would be cool to see an Aussie inspired muscle car too (Falcon/Monaro/Valiant Charger influence)
I'd love to see a modern SUV since that category is severely lacking in the lineup. All we have for SUVs is the roamer, and that's basically a D series with a wagon body. A modern SUV with lots of power and safety features like TCS would be a ton of fun to drive. It would be nice if it was capable of some light off roading, like a modern Range Rover.
